I’m tucked up in bed feeling sorry for myself after a stint in hospital this week, so my weekend plans look a lot like Netflix and naps. Despite feeling pretty rough, I’ve got a bit of weekend FOMO, so I put a little list of weekend activities together for when I’m feeling better, and I thought I’d share it with you, just in case you were pondering what to do this weekend!
Prepare the garden for summer. We’re starting to get some glimpses of good weather here and there, and my outside space is not at all ready. We’ve just had our balcony on the flat renovated, but my precious 14m2 of outside space is looking rather empty. I’m looking forward to picking out some furniture, finding some hardy plants, stringing up fairy lights and maybe even having a little herb garden out there!
Spring clean my wardrobe. My wardrobe is looking a little out of control, not only is it full to bursting, there’s also a lot of threadbare jumpers, trousers I haven’t worn in a year, and leggings that have lost their elasticity. I want to have a good sort out of the contents, and an organise of what’s left. I need to find some baskets for the top shelves, and a way of storing out of season clothes so they’re not taking up valuable real estate.
Try out some summery cocktail recipes. We’ve recently had a rejig of our bar cart, swapping out spicy whiskeys for fruity gins ready for that good weather, but I’m still pretty guilty of picking a spirit and topping it with lemonade. I’d love to get a little more ambitious with cocktail making, we’ve got all the gear, time to put it to good use!
Have a picnic in the forest. Connor and I used to eat lunch in the forest all the time when we were at college, but it’s been a long time since we last made the trip. I want to pack up some fresh salads, homemade lemonade and a blanket, and head out into the New Forest. We can sit in the sun and watch the world go by, then wander down to our favourite bakery for a little dessert!
Give some DIYs a go. Does anyone else have a pinboard full of DIY’s to try that they never get around to? In particular, I’m obsessed with the macrame bags in this Hello Glow tutorial, and they seem pretty straightforward so I want to give these a go!
Get the kitchen organised. I recently picked up the Remodalista book and wow did that give me some Pinterest-style home inspo. I want to sort my kitchen out, get some new shelves up, organise my ‘pantry’ items in jars, get rid of anything we don’t use.
Get outside for meditation time. I’ve been working hard to make meditation a part of my day to day life, but with good weather on the horizon, I want to start taking my mindfullness time outside. I’m hoping to have a good spot for this on the balcony, but I’d like to do more mindful walks too!
