My IGK Haircare Favourites

Now it’s likely you’ve heard of IGK, the brand that’s taken Instagram by storm since launching in the UK back in February. With it’s paraben free, vegan, cruelty free product lineup, and dreamily packaged products, the haircare line is doing understandably well. There are however, LOADS of products in the lineup, so I thought I’d give you the rundown on my favourites, in case you don’t know where to start!

IGK Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm.

If you have colour treated hair, particularly bleached, or hair prone to fluffy, frizziness, you need to check out Mistress. It’s a lightweight balm, with a delicious coconut scent, that can be smoothed into damp hair or applied through the ends of hair post styling to smooth things out. Applying to damp hair will guarantee soft, healthy looking lengths with a hint of shine.

Using this stops my hair getting knotty between washes, and keeps it looking healthy. It’s also handy for smoothing flyaways post styling, and because it’s so lightweight, it’s undetectable after you apply it, and doesn’t feel sticky on your hands either. I may pick up a travel size of this to keep in my handbag for touch ups on the go!

IGK Thirsty Girl Coconut Milk Leave In Conditioner.

If hydrated hair is your bag, you need to check out Thirsty Girl. If I only had one product from the whole IGK line it would be this. Formulated with fresh coconut milk, spraying this into wet hair post shower not only makes it easy to comb through, also gives your hair a heavy shot of hydration. I’ve never had hair this soft, and considering my hair is bleach treated, it’s pretty impressive. It doesn’t leave your hair feeling like it has product in either, or make it heavier for blow drying or styling. Worth every penny.

IGK Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel.

Rich Kid is the first IGK product I tried, and the one that got me to fall in love with the brand. It’s designed to be applied to damp hair, but I actually prefer to use this post-styling to mess things up a bit. After straightening or curling my hair, I take a pea sized amount and disperse it through the lengths. It messes things up a little, gives it some texture, hold, and gives that ‘I woke up like this’ look to your locks. Alternatively, I use it when I don’t want to heat style my hair, run it through the lengths of damp hair and leave to air dry. It stops air dried hair going fluffy, and gives my natural curl a bit more hold.

IGK Jet Lag Invisible Dry Shampoo.

This is likely the product from IGK you’ve heard of, their iconic dry shampoo. I have to admit, as a dry shampoo this doesn’t really do it for me, it’s very very light, leaves no residue and doesn’t really clean the hair. What it IS great for, is adding texture, and a little grittiness and volume to hair. I love spritzing this through freshly curled hair to separate the curls, or using it on second day straight hair to add some volume back into the roots.

So those are my top picks! Have you tried IGK yet?
