Instagram is awash with dreamy makeup flatlays, gorgeous product shelfies, and a world of pretty packaged beauty bits. Sometimes though, it can be hard to tell what’s style over substance and what’s worth the splurge. I’ve rummaged through my beauty stores to find the instagram beauty favourites I think are worth the hype, so you know where to spend your money.
Starting with skincare, we all know that Glossier is the Instagram generation’s darling these days, but with a big product line up it can be hard to know where to start. Personally I love the Milky Jelly Cleanser, Super Pure Serum and Balm Dot Com Lip Balm, but I’d skip over the moisturisers, face mist and sunscreen. I did a full post on my hits and misses from Glossier here so if you want more information make sure you check that out.
Korean skincare brand Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask has been doing the rounds on Instagram over the last few months and for good reason. This exfoliating, nourishing mask is packed with all the goodness of watermelons, plus extracts of seaweed, pumpkin and pomegranate, amongst others. I use this overnight twice a week and my skin always looks brighter and feels softer after. It’s not cheap, but worth every penny.
When it comes to makeup, there’s no shortage of matte black NARS compacts on the gram. NARS have a vast selection of blush shades, and their classic Laguna Bronzer is a real people pleaser. I personally love how easy to blend these are, and how longwearing I find their blushes to be, I always reach for NARS cheek products on days I want my makeup to really last.
There’s little on earth prettier than Charlotte Tilbury’s rose gold encased lipsticks, but their formula is a close second. I’ve got a real soft spot for the Matte Revolution lipsticks – in fact these are pretty much the only matte lipsticks I own now! The formula is buttery soft, so comfortable on the lips, whilst still being really longwearing. These deserve their spot in the Instagram hall of fame!
And lastly, a special mention for Diptyque’s fragrances. Yes, these Eau de Parfum’s cost a small fortune, but the rich scents really last on the skin, and you only need one spray to keep you smelling great all day. I’m obsessed with Eau Duelle, a deep, woody vanilla scent that reminds me of cozy cabins in the winter.
This certainly isn’t an exhaustive list, but just some of my long standing favourites!
