Happy Monday people of the Internet! How are we all? I know today is supposed to be ‘Blue Monday’, but I’m actually feeling pretty good today, and productive – which is an ideal Monday vibe I think!
Last week was a rough one for Connor and I, we had his Dad’s funeral, and then spent most of the rest of the week trying to organise his house, since we have to have it empty by the end of the month. There are a lot of legalities, formalities and tedious tasks that come with the loss of a loved one, that never even cross your mind, and end up taking up a lot of your time. It felt like one of the longest, hardest weeks of my life, so I felt like sitting down this morning to remember some of the good bits from the week would be worthwhile.
Firstly, how cute is this Queenie Goldstein Funko Pop? Queenie is my absolute favourite character from Fantastic Beasts, and Connor picked her up for me! I love her little eyelashes + curly hair, she’s so cute!
Spending quality time with family has been extra important over the last few weeks, and on Thursday we headed out with some of Connor’s family for dinner + a somewhat competitive bowling match! I absolutely suck at bowling, but we had so much fun, and I had a few excellent cocktails too – I just love Pornstar Martinis! The one I ordered in TGI Friday’s also came with a shot of Prosecco (which I don’t recommend shotting, I had the hiccups for a good twenty minutes after!).
One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to work reading into my daily routine, I was always one of those kids who constantly had their head in a book, and over the last year I’ve barely had any time to read! This month I’m on a roll already, I finished Sarah Perry’s The Essex Serpent, and I’m almost done with Lauren Graham’s Talking as Fast as I Can. Even if it’s just ten minutes at the end of the day, I feel so much better for getting it in! I’m going to aim to read forty books in 2017, somewhat ambitious, but I was reading nearly that much in a two month period a few years back.
I nipped into Homesense with my parents yesterday for a little browse, and left with my bank account much lighter. I bagged my dream desk in the sale section, reduced because of a few little scuffs. A little lick of paint and it’s going to be the perfect piece for my brand new office! We’re hoping to have the keys to our new place by the end of the month and I’m so excited to share with you the renovations + some home styling content! I also picked up a copper mixing bowl and jug in the sale for £6 each, and this gorgeous grey mermaid blanket, which is literally the stuff dreams are made of.
If you read this post, you’ll know I went a little mad in the Lush Christmas Sales! I’ve been really enjoying taking an hour out to run myself a big hot bath, pour a glass of wine (or whiskey and coke), and soak in the tub with my book. You gotta grab the little moments in a hectic life, right?
I hope you’re all feeling good this grey Monday morning, I’m wishing you all a happy + productive week!
