Until I started compiling this post, I thought I’d been pretty restrained in the Boxing Day Sales – oops! I don’t think I bought anything frivolous, which is one of my new goals for 2017 (spend wiser), everything I purchased was something I’d have bought anyway, I just got a good deal on! I managed to bag a fair few bargains, so I thought I’d share them with you all today!
Now, I know this is something of a sore spot for some, but let’s talk about the Lush Sale. We all know that their website sale is a total shit show come Boxing day, they’re never prepared for the volume of traffic, and their poor customer service team has to spend their day apologising, and trying to fix their problems. At one point this year their fourteen customer service reps had a total of nearly 4,000 incoming phone calls. Just take a minute to let that sink in, the poor things. So for those reasons, I never bother attempting the online sale, it’s just not worth the ballache. However, Connor’s house (and this year, the house that we are currently cat sitting in) are both just a short ten minute walk into Bournemouth town centre, so on Boxing Day morning, I always wrap up warm and walk into town to hit up the Lush store – it’s almost become tradition.
This year, I arrived shortly after 10am to find that they were quiet and well stocked on pretty much everything, it was a total dream scenario. Normally I rock up around midday and the gift sets are gone but I can still go hell for leather for bath bombs, so it’s all good.
This year I picked up a few loose bath bombs, two Star Dust Bath Bombs and two Autumn Leaf Bath Bombs, they’re two of my favourites and I wanted to stock up, but other than that I stuck to gift sets!
The first set I picked up was the Northern Lights Gift Set. Since my surname is Rockett, I tend to be drawn in by anything space related anyway, but the pretty packaging of this box certainly helped too! This set contains three bath bombs, Shoot for the Stars, Northern Lights and Twilight, three of my favourites! These bath bombs generally retail for around £4 each, and I paid £7 for the set, so I was pretty chuffed with that.
I also picked up the Merry Christmas Gift Box which was packed full of exciting bathtime goodies. There’s a Lord of Misrule, Golden Wonder, Luxury Lush Pud, Stardust Bath Bomb and a Snow Angel Bath Oil. Again, it worked out at about £2 for each one, so much cheaper than their usual prices!
I picked up the last Christmas Candy Box left in the store, it seemed to be one of the most popular sets! This has a mix of products, Luxury Lush Christmas Pud bath bomb, a Candy Mountain Bubble Bar, a chunk of Rockstar Soap and a small bottle of Snow Fairy Shower Gel. I ended up giving the Snow Fairy to my sister, since she’s a big fan and didn’t manage to get any, but even so, this set was £7, so it was still a total bargain!
And lastly, I picked up mammoth box set Reindeer Games! This contains Snow Fairy Fun, Reindeer and Robin Fun, Snowman Shower Jelly, Father Christmas Bath Bomb, Golden Wonder Bath Bomb, Shoot For The Stars and Luxury Lush Christmas Pud, so you’re looking at around £40 worth of product, for £19.95. I think it’s safe to say I’m pretty well stocked up on Lush products for the year now!
Whilst I was in town I popped into Space NK for a quick peek too, but it was in all honesty, a little disappointing. I was hoping to bag some Diptyque or Aromatherapy Associates but was sorely disappointed. I did leave with a repurchase of the Shimmering Spice Candle though, something I always pick up in the boxing day sales. A beautiful spicy orange scent, this always drops to £12.50 in the post Christmas sales, so I always wait til then to pick one up!
I snagged two jumpers in the sales later on in the week, a striped Whistles number that is super cosy and warm, and a thinner mint green number from Mint Velvet. The Whistles one is so my style and a great goes-with-everything purchase, whilst I loved the lighter shade of the Mint Velvet number, I think it’ll be perfect for spring! Both were around half their original price and I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of both!
And lastly, my one big splurge! If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know that I pretty much live in my Ash Jalouse Boots, they’re super comfy, they go with everything and I blooming love them. I’ve had them for nearly two years and I’ve worn them 9 days out of 10, and they still look great. I’ve been debating picking up a second pair in a different colour for a while, so when I saw that House of Fraser had the tan pair in the sale half price, I just had to pick them up!
I’ve worn them a couple of times already and I just love them, they’re just as comfy as my other pair, and the colour is so pretty! This is probably my favourite find of them all, I feel pretty smug bagging these for just £78!
And that concludes the great sales haul of December 2016! That’ll probably be it for a while on the shopping front for me, as Connor and I need to start saving for furniture!
Did you bag any bargains in the sales?
