Weekly Magic: May 11th 2022.

Weekly Magic posts were a pre-pandemic staple on this blog, ironically I lost track of them right around the time I probably needed them the most.

I thought I’d bring them back though, because I think we all need a reminder to look for the little happy things in the every day, don’t we?

  1. I’ve accidentally started a love affair with Belvoir Ginger Cordial and I’m not sorry. When I was really struggling with the Covid nausea last month Con picked up a bottle of it, as little cans of ginger ale were pretty much the only thing I was keeping down. We have a SodaStream, and so I’ve been making sparkling water and sloshing a good measure of Belvoir Ginger Cordial in in the evenings. It’s so tasty, and I think we may even try incorporate it into a few cocktail recipes.
  2. I bought a new pair of trainers this month! Footwear isn’t something I buy often, the last pair of shoes I bought were my wedding shoes! However, I splurged on a pair of trainers from the new Mansur Gavriel X Veja collection and I couldn’t be happier with them. They’re pretty, comfy, go with most of my wardrobe and honestly, that gold foiling really sold me.
  3. We’ve been recreating the Gousto Chickpea Curry recipe at least once a week for months now. It’s such a speedy recipe to recreate, and I chuck in any veggies or proteins we have in the fridge to be used up. I love simple recipes like this that are tasty but also flexible! It’s great with added potatoes, chicken, carrots, even peas!
  4. I had not one but two bookish campaigns go live on TikTok this month, and honestly I’m so proud of them. I am by no means making a full time living off of Instagram/Tiktok/Blog Content, but I finally feel like I’m in a place where I’m really enjoying the work I am taking on, and I’m working with brands I’m obsessed with. If someone could have told ten year old Jaye that one day she’d be making money off of reading books, she probably would have cried with excitement.
  5. I’ve almost finished burning my current favourite candle, Busy Being Cosy by YR StudioYou guys know I’m a massive fan of Adriana’s candles, and right now I can’t get enough of this pine needle, cedar and oakmoss scent – the perfect foresty fragrance for writing fairytales at my desk.
  6. I bought this multipack of repositionable sticky tabs off of Amazon after running out of my old ones, and they’re PERFECT for annotating your favourite reads.
  7. The new season of Selling Sunset served so much good drama that we’ve gone back and now we’re rewatching from the beginning! I’m taking notes for our future home, so I need to start earning more money haha!
  8. One of my best friends had a baby this week (omg, how grown up are we?!) so we had her dog come to stay while they were at the hospital and getting settled. Not only has she been the best company, but it’s been great being forced to go out for three little round the block walks every day! Bella is a Chihuahua so she doesn’t need much exercise, just a little spin round the block to stretch her legs and use the bathroom. I would never think of going on multiple short walks instead of one long one if she hadn’t been here, but it’s actually a really nice way to break up the day, and a low pressure way to add movement in on bad health days. It’s something I definitely want to continue doing even when Bella goes back home!
  9. I was at my mum’s the other morning when a Lush delivery arrived, including the Sticky Dates Shower Gel. One whiff and I was on the app ordering a bottle! It’s from their Eid collection so it’s limited edition, and it literally smells like sticky toffee pudding – amazing.
  10. Peony season is well and truly upon us, I’ve got two bunches on the go and my sights on a third. It doesn’t last long, so snap up a bunch while you can, I grabbed five stems in M&S for £10 and they lasted nearly two weeks!
