It’s that time of year again, when the cold creeps in and if your skin is anything like mine, it probably freaks out and gets pretty dry. Luckily, I’ve been doing this skincare thing long enough now that I’ve rounded up a few winter skincare favourites to get you through the cold-weather months, and you best believe I’m slathering these on my skin every second of every day.
Morning Favourites.
In the morning, I often wake up with that tight skin feeling, so I’m forever reaching for a face mist. It’s such a nice way to wake the skin up, and an extra boost of moisture. Right now I’m using up the Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist, but I also love the Too Cool For School Coconut Milky Mist and the Caudalie Beauty Elixir.
I keep most of my morning skincare basics the same, cleanser and moisturiser in particular I don’t mix up often, but I found myself reaching for the Glow Recipe Pineapple-C Bright Serum again, it just smooths out any bumbs and is super nourishing and smoothing on the skin. Before I move onto makeup I’m going in with two pumps of the Glossier Futuredew Serum which I’m utterly obsessed with. It gives the skin a gorgeous, luminous finish, I’ve never used anything like it. Evening Favourites.
I’ve been dousing my skin in the Herbivore Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil in the evenings, this super luxurious oil isn’t heavy or greasy on the skin, but absorbs throughout the night leaving your skin feeling plump and juicy in the morning. I follow up with a layer of my old faithful, the Sunday Riley CEO Protect + Repair Moisturiser, which is the most creamy and delightful moisturiser, for intensive hydration bursts.
Of course, when it comes to intense hydration, nothing does the job quite like the Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm, a thick balm that I slather on my lips, cuticles, and my nose after a cold too. It’s the kind of thick that an hour later you can still feel on your lips. I’ve also been going ham with my & Other Stories Miami Muse Hand Lotion to stop my paws getting dry. I’m a sucker for a moisturiser with a pump.
Mask Favourites.
When hydration is number one on my agenda, I’ve been obsessed with the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. It’s a lightweight gel formula that you can slather on your face and leave on overnight, when you wake up it’ll have all absorbed and your skin will be soft and smooth. For days when my skin is so dry it’s flaking, I opt for the Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask, which is my skin’s absolute favourite (I’ve gotten my mum and dad hooked on this too!).
Speaking of Origins, their Clear Improvement Charcoal Honey Mask has been a godsend for winter breakouts. I’m a big fan of the original clear improvement mask, but this one is less drying on the skin, much better for dry winter skin. I’ve also been enjoying the Dr Roebuck’s Tama Healing Mask, for upset skin as the seasons change. Packed with tumeric, manuka honey and avocado oil, it’s a good boost for distressed skin.
And for when my skin just needs an all round boost, I’ll slap on the Antipodes Manuka Honey Mask for a quick 10 minute hydration fix, or the Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask for an overnight treatment. They’re similar products packed with soothing, hydrating, and skin boosting ingredients.
