Getting Ready For a New Year

As scary as it is, 2019 is winding to a close, and we stand on the precipice of not only a new year, but a new decade. It’s the perfect time for reinvention, goal setting and getting ahead! In the interest of starting a new year off on the right foot, I’ve set myself a few to dos to get ready.

Deep clean the house.

Ready for Christmas chaos, but also to get organised. This week I’m planning a major sort out of the home, throwing some bits out, putting some clothes on Depop, and we’ve got our cleaner coming to do a deep clean too. It’ll be nice to not have to worry about chores over Christmas, and easier to keep on top of, and I can start the year feeling organised at home. Tidy house = tidy mind!

Set yourself some achievable new year goals.

Whether you like a traditional goal, like ‘start going to the gym’, or something more abstract like a word of the year, it’s a great time to start thinking about your goals and how you’re going to achieve them.

Reflect on the year gone past.

It’s the perfect time, when thinking about setting new goals, to really dig deep into how the year has gone, and how you could improve. Did you achieve your goals for 2019? If not, why not? Where your goals too ambitious, did you not set any tasks to help you complete it, or did something get in the way? Reflect also on how you’ve spent your time, and what you’d like to do more of.

Start sneaking in a few gym sessions.

To help ease the Christmas over indulgence, but also to make the January return to healthy living a bit easier. I’m hoping to go down for a swim or two this week, and I’ve also booked a few yoga classes for over Christmas.
