Sometimes, it takes a few days of being off work to get used to slowing down, and to switch off from work mode. Here’s a simple Christmas to do list to help embrace the spirit of slow and relaxation!
A long soak in the tub.
First things first, get your pamper on! My first day of Christmas break always starts with a long morning bubble bath – there’s little in life that feels more luxurious than having a bath in the morning! I’ve got a few Aromatherapy Associates gift sets* I’ll be cracking out this year, I love their rich bath oils for a super indulgent, spa like feeling! I’ll be going full spa session with face masks and a few candles too!
Lose yourself in a festive read.
My favourite guilty pleasure this time of year isn’t chocolate, it’s festive themed romance novels! Curling up on the sofa with a hot chocolate, my favourite blanket and a feel good festive read, what could be better? I recently read Coming Home to Glendale Hall by Victoria Walters, and I can definitely recommend it as an easy read to help you unwind and spark up the festive feeling!
I love baking as a form of practical mindfulness, it’s so gratifying to wholly focus on one task, and get your hands messy too! I’m going to be making gingerbread this weekend, I also recommend trying out my Spice cookie recipe!
Book a yoga class.
Yoga classes are my favourite way to move over the holidays. Booking in classes means I’m committed to going (and can’t cry off in favour of an extra hour in bed), and it’s a nice way to add slow, purposeful, intentional movement into the break. It’s a good way to focus your mind on relaxation after a busy week.
