The end of summer may be creeping up on us, but I’m in no rush to say goodbye to my summer glow. I’ll be continuing the bronzed glowy skin look through the end of September, when I’ll inevitably give up and embrace my true pale status. Until then, these are my favourite products for getting that natural summer glow.
This year is the first time I’ve really embraced fake tan (yes, I’m still lusting after my bronzed aussie skin, weep), and it’s all because of the St Tropez Gradual Tan Watermelon Infusion. This may just be my perfect faux glow, it’s super easy to apply, not sticky and fast absorbing, no streaks, no strange biscuit smell. It gives you a perfect hint-of-tan, that looks natural and not orange. I’ve been using this every ten days or so just to give the illusion I’m more tanned than I am.
I’ve incorporated quite a few glow-givers into my skincare routine, I’m a big believer in giving yourself a good starting point. I’ve been loving the Milk Makeup Watermelon Brightening Serum in the evenings. Besides the fact it’s cooling and soothing on the skin, it also seems to just nourish my skin, leaving it looking brighter than before. I alternate overnight between the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Mask and the Origins Drink Up Intensive. The former uses a combination of acids to slough away at dead skin cells leaving the skin looking fresher and glowier, while the latter doses my skin up with hydration to make it look plump and juicy. The dream team!
I’ve been using another Glow Recipe favourite, the Pineapple Brightening Serum in the mornings. I love how fresh this feels on my skin, and since working it into my morning skincare routine, my skin has been noticeably clearer, smoother and brighter.
Before I apply any makeup I go in with the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti Pollution Sunshine Drops. This is my first forray into the Drunk Elephant Brand and I really am impressed. Whilst I’m not convinced this does much in the way of anti-pollution, a few drops of this mixed into my moisturiser leaves my skin looking sunkissed and bronzed.
The Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation (gifted from previous campaign with Dior) has been my everyday base this summer, I love that I can build up the coverage whilst maintaining a natural finish and glowy complexion. I feel like this foundation is the ultimate ‘my skin but better’ base product I’ve been looking for for years.
A good bronzer and highlight are my go to makeup products in the summer. This year I can’t get enough of the Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer in Baked, it’s so creamy, easy to apply, blends like a dream and is the perfect shade for me. I really love a cream bronzer, and this is the best one I’ve tried. For highlight, I’ve been really taken with the Wet and Wild Precious Petals Highlighting Powder. This is a bargain at under £5, and it’s just gorgeous. A beautiful champagne glow that’s finely milled and soft on the skin. I love how this looks on the skin, it’s an intense glow but a gorgeous one!
