Now I probably watch a little more tv than the average Joe, being broken means a lot of time resting and what better to do than binge a little Netflix? Lucky for you, that means I’ve watched the good, the bad, and the downright shocking, so that you can concentrate your time on the good! Here’s a rundown of the shows I’ve been loving recently.
Good Girls – Netflix.
I was so pleased to see Season 2 of Good Girls had finally made it’s way to Netflix. The all star cast makes this a must watch on it’s own, but what I really love about this show is the way it toes the line between intense drama and dark humour so well.
Watch if you liked: Orange is The New Black, Killing Eve, Dead To Me.
Killing Eve – BBC iPlayer.
Oh. My. God. I can’t decide who I’m more obsessed with, Sandra Oh or Jodie Comer. I loved Season 1 of Killing Eve, but felt at the time like I wanted that to be it, and that it should have had a finite ending. Thankfully, Season 2 made the somewhat anti climactic ending worth it, and I’m already looking forward to more Eve/Villanelle magic in Season 3. Also, I want Villanelle’s wardrobe.
Watch if you liked: Spooks, Thirteen, Bodyguard.
New Amsterdam – Amazon Prime.
I loved Ryan Eggold in The Blacklist, so when I saw him heading up this new medical drama on Amazon Prime, I knew I’d be into it. Realistically, this is Grey’s Anatomy with a slightly more altruistic lean, but if you liked that, you’ll like this.
Watch if you liked: The Blacklist, Grey’s Anatomy, Chicago Fire.
The 100 – Amazon Prime.
I’ve been watching The 100 for years and whilst it can be a little repetitive, I’ve really sunk my teeth into this season, and it’s resparked my love for this dystopian universe. There are a lot of very attractive people in this reality, considering there’s only four hundred something surviving humans.
Watch if you liked: The Hunger Games, Riverdale, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
The Society – Netflix.
Another YA dystopian drama to sink your teeth in. Some of the script feels like it was written by a team that had never met a teenager before, and a few of the episodes could have been faster paced, but the premise is strong and intriguing enough to keep you interested. It’s kinda dark, there aren’t many moments of light relief for these kids, but man, do I hope there’s a season two.
Watch if you liked: The Hunger Games, The 100, Divergent, Riverdale.
Big Little Lies – HBO.
I wasn’t sure where they would take Season 2, since Season 1 was based off a book with no sequels, but we’re only two eps in and I’m glad to be back with the Monterey gang. This show has it all, a stellar cast of strong women, intense drama, gorgeous visuals and the occasional one liner (normally delivered by Reese Witherspoon ) that’ll make you snort into your glass of wine.
Watch if you liked: The Handmaid’s Tale, Killing Eve.
