A Spring Makeup Bag

The first full week of March seems like the perfect excuse to shake out your everyday makeup bag for some more spring-appropriate picks. I’m all for a seasonal makeup shakeup, aside from being one of the only things stopping me from using the same products day in and out, it’s also a great excuse to try out new looks and it’s a nice way to make room for a new season too. Today I’m laying out the contents of my everyday makeup bag for spring for you.

The Becca Backlight Priming Filter was a slow burn for me. It’s a subtle sheeny base that when pressed into the skin gives a glowy-not-glittery boost to the complexion. It’s expensive, but a gorgeous way to perk up the skin. I love a good glow for spring, and this is a great place to start.

The Charlotte Tilbury Youth Wonder Foundation is a gorgeous lightweight foundation for Spring. It’s not a heavy duty coverage option, but rather it smooths and evens the complexion out whilst adding glow and a natural, healthy finish. I always get compliments on my skin when I use this foundation, and it’s the perfect lightweight option for those warmer spring days.

When I’m opting for a lighter coverage base, I like to have a heavy duty concealer on hand for the areas that still need a little help. The NARS Soft Matte Concealer is the perfect solution, don’t let the name fool you, this is more of a natural finish than out and out matte. It blends amazingly even with glowier base options, and when pressed into the skin with a Beauty Blender, eye bags and blemishes vanish. It’s super longwearing and comfortable not cakey on the skin.

I’m still head over heels for the Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer, and it’s definitely the perfect addition to your Spring makeup bag. This is the only cream bronzer I’ve used that both blends out easy and lasts well on the skin. It’s creamy texture melts into the skin leaving you with a natural glow you just can’t get with a powder.

I always come back to the Urban Decay Afterglow Highlight in Sin this time of year. Something about it’s finely milled sheen just calls to me when I’m looking for a spring glow, and since this tends to be my palest time of year, this champagne highlight is the perfect compliment to my fresh-from-winter-skin.

I have a love hate relationship with cream cheek products, but I find myself really reaching for them in the spring. The Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge Fresh Melon is perhaps one of the longest standing cheek products in my collection. It’s a soft peachy shade that blends out on the skin to achieve a super natural flush. It’s a tackier formula than most cream blushes, but that means it sticks around on the skin better than most.

I like to keep brows simple in the spring, fill in any sparse areas and hold them in place, without too heavy a brow look. The Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil is perfect for filling out the brows in a natural way, the waxy pencil distributes well through the hairs, and the Glossier Boy Brow holds things in place with little fuss.

I’m favouring a simpler eye look right now, nothing says spring better than a one-and-done eyeshadow stick formula. I’ve recently fallen head over heels for the By Terry Ombre Blackstar Misty Rock, a sparkly lilac concoction that when applied to the lid just screams spring. It’s easy to apply and blend out and somehow this shade manages to look like you’ve spent hours blending shadows into the crease for the perfect eye look.

I tend to find myself reaching for brown pencil liner over black liquid liner in the spring, it’s a softer way to add defininition to the lashline. I only have one brown pencil in my collection now because the Marc Jacobs HighLiner in Brownie is just THAT good. A soft gel formula it applies easily, blends out if you need it to and sets down to last all day.

Spring to me means thick fluttery lashes, and that’s where the YSL The Shock Mascara comes in. One coat gives fluffy volume and length to lashes, it’s the perfect compliment to a simple eye look.

And finally, a peachy nude to finish the look off. I’ve been reaching for the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in Corail Spontini 15, a sheer peach sheen that makes the lips look juicy and healthy. Mine is from the Heart And Arrow collection YSL released for Valentine’s and this cute doodle packaging makes me so happy!

And that’s it, the products in my spring makeup bag! What will you be reaching for this spring?
