You know the drill by know, someone says ‘cocktails’ I say ‘where’. That’s pretty much exactly how it played out when I was invited down to The Cosy Club in Bournemouth for a cocktail masterclass!
I’ve visited The Cosy Club for breakfast a few times and always been impressed, it definitely lives up to it’s name with it’s warm toned decor, low lighting and friendly atmosphere. Located in the centre of town, The Cosy Club have transformed an already beautiful building into literally the cosiest place in town.
We arrived and headed straight up to The Deck, which is available to hire for private parties. With it’s own bar, outdoor roof terrace and dreamy decor, it was the perfect spot for a cocktail masterclass!
We arrived perfectly timed, as the barman was pouring our welcome cocktails! The English Rose is a delicate mix of gin, lemon juice, rose water, fresh strawberries and prosecco, the perfect light, summery drink to start the night with! Served in champagne flutes and garnished with petals, it ticks both the delicious and Instagram-able boxes!
We mingled, chatted with the staff, and then the fun began!
In pairs we got behind the bar to tackle the cocktail making portion of events! We could choose which cocktails we wanted to make and honestly, that was probably the hardest part! Both sounded great, a lot of people went for the Rhubarb and Ginger Bramble which looked great, but I couldn’t resist the cherry bakewell!
We measured out cherry juice, amaretto, rum and caramel syrup into boston shakers, before the real hard bit started! I never realised quite how hard shaking a cocktail is, not just the effort from a physical point of view, but the fact those shakers become ice cold! It was good fun though, and after pouring and garnishing with a cherry, it was worth the effort for the taste! This cocktail basically tastes like a Mr Kipling Cherry Bakewell popped in the blender – no bad thing at all.
Drinks made and photographed, it was snack time! The Cosy Club put on quite the spread for us, there were scotch eggs, avocado toast, mushrooms, mac and cheese dippers, mini burgers, the lot! As I’d only been to The Cosy Club for breakfast previously, it was all new to me, but everything was delicious and Con and I have already scheduled in a burger date to go back!
I’d never been to a cocktail masterclass before but I’d thoroughly recommend! It would be such a great thing to do with your girlfriends, perhaps for a birthday or hen party, the staff were great and so welcoming, and the drinks were great!
