Heatproof Summer Makeup

Now if you live in England you’re probably sick to death of this heatwave, and makeup is the last thing you want to put on your face, girl, I feel ya. Most days I’m sticking with a little mascara and nothing else because it is HOT and wearing makeup feels like an effort. That being said, there are still some days when I want to feel a little more put together, so I’ve been working to scramble together a makeup bag full of products that can not only withstand the heat, but also not feel too heavy on the skin. So, without further ado, my heatproof summer makeup edit.

The aim of the game here is light layers, and keeping things simple, so I’ve been skipping over primer, and instead reaching for a foundation that I know will stay intact no matter what. Right now, my number one choice is the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear FoundationI honestly did not expect to love this foundation, or even much like it, but I picked it up on a whim in Sephora and oh, em, gee. I use a dense bristled foundation brush to really buff this into the skin, I use it quite sparingly and spend time working into the skin. The result is lower coverage than this foundation is just BEGGING to offer, but it’s a comfortable, lightweight, natural looking medium coverage that will not budge. Heat, sweat, a workout at the gym, this isn’t going anywhere, and it’s looking great doing it.

For concealer that won’t budge, you can’t do better than the NARS Soft Matte Complete ConcealerWhen used with a dampened Beauty Blender and pressed into the skin, it meshes perfectly with foundation and just stays put all day. Unfortunately for me, I don’t have this in my current ‘Jaye got a tan’ shade, so I’ve been making do with the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer which is an equally fab product, it’s just not *quite* as long lasting.

Powder at the moment feels like another heavy layer on the skin, so I’m skipping over it. This foundation has a pretty matte finish anyway, so it’s not super necessary. I’m going straight in with a little cream blush, I’m totally obsessed with the Glossier Cloud Paint in Storm, a gorgeous natural dusky pink. I dab a little of this onto the cheeks with my fingers, and it’s not going anywhere. I’ve not been too worried about bronzer or highlight, I feel like the Cloud Paint does enough for the complexion on it’s own!

I use the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray like it’s going out of fashion this time of year, it’s the perfect alternative to setting powder when you don’t want another layer of product on your skin, and it locks everything in place!

I’ve tried a lot of brow products in my time, but when it comes to staying power, you just can’t beat the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade. This stuff is like eyebrow war paint, and not only does it look excellent, it’s waterproof too. Great brows, all day, no fuss.

I’ve been opting for cream shadows recently, mostly for ease, this heat is making me hella lazy. Whatever I use though, I always apply a little of the Urban Decay Primer Potion to my lids first. This stuff just really helps your eyeshadow grip on, it’s not going anywhere if it’s on top of this!

For cream shadows, I’ve been loving offerings from NYX, Bobbi Brown and MAC, but really any will do!

Lip wise, I’ve mostly been sticking to lip balm, the heat is making my lips SO dry. But when I want colour, I’m all about the MAC Liptensity Lipsticks, they’re matte and cling to the lips like a stain, without being drying. All day colour, check.
