US BEAUTY HAUL: The Not Sephora Edit

Yoast is telling me this is the world’s worst title for SEO but I’ve been thinking about this post for about three weeks and I haven’t come up with anything else so here we are! Anyway, this is a round up of all the beauty bits I picked up that weren’t from Sephora. There’s not a lot here, but there was enough that they deserved their own post.

Unlike previous trips to the US, I didn’t buy a whole lot of products in the drugstore. I’m not really sure why, I visited CVS, Duane Reed and Walgreens but there wasn’t a whole lot that caught my eye. I did pick up the Wet and Wild Photo Focus Foundation after hearing a lot about it online. It was literally $2, the cheapest foundation I’ve ever owned and it’s a bit of a mixed bag, but if you’re interested I’ll put a little review together with my thoughts at some point.

The last time I visited New York there was no Ulta in Manhattan but thankfully that is no longer the case! Less fortunately, it’s way up on the Upper East Side but there were two products I desperately wanted to try out, so we made the trek. We actually walked there and back in the -10 cold so big up to Con for trooping through that with me! Anyway, the Ulta is super well stocked and I was able to pick up both the products I was after!

The first was the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, a product I tried last year when I was in California but was out of stock everywhere. I finally tracked it down and it definitely lives up to the hype, with longwearing high coverage. It can look a little heavy though, so definitely one to go in lightly with and blend out well with a Beauty Blender.

I also finally found a Lorac Pro 3 palette! I’ve had the original Lorac Pro for a while now (thanks Tami!) and I love it, but I do find I always gravitate to the same handful of shades. With this one, I know I’ll wear every single toned, it’s more of a neutral selection than the original, and the shades are all slightly warm. I love the formula of Lorac shadows and I’m excited to really put this to the test! Expect a full review soon!

I ended up sticking my head into the Glossier Showroom in Lower Manhattan during the trip as I ran out of my Super Pure Serum on day three. It was nice to have a peak at the New York store but I have to admit, not as impressive as the London Pop Up! I also finally caved and picked up a Boy Brow while I was there and I’m enjoying trying that out (although, I actually think I prefer Benefit’s Gimme Brow!)P.S. Other than that I grabbed an Elf brush in Target although I actually came home with the wrong one – I was meant to pick up the duofibre face powder brush and ended up with a domed foundation buffing brush. It’s a great brush nonetheless, I just didn’t need it! I also grabbed a Velvetease Lip Pencil from MAC at the airport, and impulse purchase because they were on sale! The shade Frolic is a pretty peachy shade I’m excited to use in Spring.

So there we go a small but strong haul! Don’t forget to check out my Sephora Beauty Haul too!
