Shows To Binge Watch on Netflix This Autumn

There’s no denying the arrival of autumn anymore, the nights are drawing in, the weather’s taken a turn for the dark and moody, and I’ve got my SAD lamp switched on every day at work. It means that in the evenings after work I’m less inclined to go out an about than I am to snuggle up on the sofa and binge watch a new series on Netflix – and I’m sure I’m not the only one! With that in mind I wanted to share my favourite binge-worthy series on Netflix, so you can while away the autumn nights in a cosy fashion too!

The Good Place.

My favourite new Netflix discovery! Written by the incredible Mike Schur (mastermind behind Parks & Rec), and starring the ever funny Kristen Bell (most recently of Frozen fame but I always remember her as the girl from Forgetting Sarah Marshall – the first film I ever saw with full frontal nudity!) – this series is SO witty and clever. It took me a couple of episodes to get into it but now when the new episode drops on a Friday, I can’t wait to watch it and inevitably stick it on in the morning while I’m doing my makeup. Without giving too much away, Bell’s character wakes up to discover she’s died and is in ‘the good place’ but a case of mistaken identity means she’s not actually supposed to be there. It follows her antics trying to be a good person so she doesn’t get kicked out, it’s wickedly funny and there’s a big ol’ plot twist at the end of season one to keep you on your toes! The whole of season one is on Netflix now, and there are new episodes of season two weekly!

Riverdale.

I think everyones talking about Riverdale but it’s a good’un so I wanted to throw my hat in the ring! Don’t be put off by it’s teen-heavy cast, this spin on the old Archie comics has been so cleverly created. Think of it as everything Pretty Little Liars could have been, complex characters, intricate narrative arcs but with an almost believable storyline. Watch it, and I challenge you to not want long copper hair by the end of season one.

Scandal.

I mean, if you haven’t watched Scandal at this point WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. I generally find once TV programmes get passed season 3/4 they lose their touch but Scandal is the ultimate exception to this rule. It’s got everything, politics, murder, sexy men, and a strong female role model you’ll be in awe of. #whatwouldoliviapopedo?

Jane The Virgin.

There’s nothing quite as heartwarming as the antics of Jane Villanueva, from her accidental artificial insemination, telenovela star father and weird love triangle drama. This is the kinda show you want to binge watch with your girlfriends whilst arguing over whether you’re Team Michael or Team Rafael. It’s got a satirical sense of humour and strong feminist undertones I’m all about.

What are you going to be binge watching on Netflix this autumn?
