How To Spend Your Bank Holiday Weekend

I love a good Bank Holiday weekend, who doesn’t love an extra day off work? Last Bank Holiday I ended up with a day on my own, all my family and friends were out of town, and Connor had to work. I was kinda dreading it, but I ended up having such a fun, jam packed day. Everything I did you could do alone or with a friend, so I thought I’d share a little list of things to add to your bank holiday to do list.

Sleep In. How often do you go to bed without setting an alarm, and with nothing to get up for the next morning? I’m betting not often enough. Take the excuse of a three day weekend to sleep in as long as your heart desires, and not feel the tiniest bit guilty about it.

Slap on a face mask. Spend what’s left of the morning luxuriating in a little pampering in bed. Slap on a face mask like the Kiehl’s Cilantro and Lime Anti Pollution Mask, + catch up on some YouTube videos from the comfort of your bed.

Shop (or window shop) for homewares. I love nothing more than a bank holiday stroll round Homesense. Bank Holidays are the perfect excuse to treat your home to something new, a cosy new blanket for your bed, some pretty new cushions for your sofa, a print for your wall. Anything your heart desires!

Explore somewhere new. A local park, a forest trail, a local landmark. Get yourself out and exploring!

Visit a local market. I love visiting local farmers markets, and treating myself to fresh fruit and veggies, and a bunch of fresh blooms. A lot of local farmer’s markets happen on Mondays, so have a little Google and find out what’s going on near you.

Take yourself for lunch. Do you ever go out for a meal on your own? Other than the occasional Pret sandwich, I’m guessing this is pretty unlikely. There was a cosy little local cafe on my list to visit for the longest time, so I headed there for soup and a sandwich, along with a battered old paperback. It felt pretty luxurious.

Treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure. Whether that’s an at home pamper routine, or taking yourself down to a local salon, treat your digits to a little pamper sesh. I’ve become pretty partial to gel manicures recently, so my favourite thing to do with a free hour is head for a mani!

Go for a sunset drive. There’s something about driving through the countryside as the sunsets. Con and I love putting on a nineties playlist, picking up a milkshake from McDonalds, and heading out for a drive to the perfect sunset watching spot.

So there you have it! What are your plans for this Bank Holiday weekend?
