Can you tell I’m really digging the beauty content lately? Long time readers will know that my blogging journey started with all beauty all the time, and kinda changed as I changed, until we ended up with only a handful of beauty posts a month. Right now though, I’m just really enjoying makeup and beauty products again, so if it’s okay with you imma ride the wave and keep churning out beauty posts for you!
Today I wanted to bring back an oldie but goodie post format, the 5 to try, where I give you five mini reviews on five different products I think you should try. Now that we’re all caught up, let’s jump in!
Let’s start with the non-makeup items first, I finally picked up the Bumble and Bumble Cityswept Finishing Spray on a trip to the Cosmetic Company Outlet last month. I’ve been eyeballing this since it came out, but I love the Thickening Spray so much I didn’t think this would measure up. This spray definitely serves a different function, it’s more like a hairspray than the Thickening which is just a straight up texturiser. I like to scrunch up my hair, spritz this in, and I find it just gives it a bit of a second-day-hair feel as well as a dose of hold. You don’t need both sprays, but if you’re after something with a bit of grit and hold, definitely check this out.
I also don’t ever really hear anyone talk about the & Other Stories Hand Lotions, but I blooming love them. I keep a bottle of the Mediterranéen Hand Lotion on my desk + bedside table, to keep my paws soft throughout the day. I love the scent, it’s fresh, fruity + reminds me of being on holiday, and it sinks in pretty quick so you can get on with your day!
Everyone’s been banging on about the Anastasia Brow Wiz since it was first released back in the day, and I finally understand why. As an everyday, low fuss brow product, this is the dream. I have the shade medium brown which isn’t too dark, too ashy or too warm, it’s got a seriously thin tip making it easy to be precise, and the spoolie on the end does a great job of distributing the product through your brows. I think I could get rid of all my other brow products and just keep this, a bold claim, I know.
I wasn’t all that interested in the Lancome Juicy Shakers until the shade Piece of Cake was released. Now this little tube of goodness lives in my handbag, and is my ultimate go to for an everyday nourishing lip colour. The perfect pinky nude, it’s easy to apply without a mirror and the oil formula makes it super comfortable on the lips. Make sure it’s done up properly though, or it will leak all over your handbag…
And lastly a shout out to the Marc Jacobs Volume Noir Mascara, a product I can’t believe isn’t talked about more! This is my second tube and I’m blooming obsessed with it, it’s so incredibly volumising and dramatic looking, even in one coat. I love me a big lash, and this stuff really delivers. It’s pricey, but a tube lasts me a good 10 weeks of daily use, and you can’t put a price on lash happiness, can you?
