It’s been quite some time since I’ve put together a monthly favourites post, so I wanted to make sure an April Favourites made it into my schedule! Sometimes I feel like I have to force monthly favourite posts, like I’m writing them for the sake of sticking to a schedule, but it’s been a while and I have so many great things to share with you that this month it was a no brainer! I’ve got a bit of a mix this month, of beauty, fashion and life bits, so hopefully there’s something for everyone!
First, a few beauty bits worth a mention. I’ve got two new brushes in rotation that I’ve been using (and loving) for the past six weeks or so. I mentioned the Real Techniques Point XL Brush in my First Impressions post on Monday, but it definitely deserved another mention. It’s a great multitasking powder brush, but I particularly love it for contour + mattifying my T Zone. I’ve also been using the NYX Duofibre Pro Powder Face Brush for blush and it’s hitting the spot. It doesn’t pick up too much product, and it blends colour beautifully. Both great tools for your brush arsenal.
Two favourites from my Copenhagen haul last month, I’ve been obsessed with the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer since picking it up in duty free. It’s the highest coverage concealer I’ve ever used, the only thing that will completely conceal my dark under eye circles, and yet when applied with a Beauty Blender, it doesn’t look or feel cakey at all. I’ve also fallen head over heels for the Anastasia Brow Wiz, an easy to use, natural brow pencil that just bulks my sparse brows out a little.
Not a specific product, but I also had my nails done this month, for the first time in forever. I had acrylic tips with shellac done and I’m blooming obsessed. I kept them short, and as someone with incredibly weak nails, it’s been a treat to have such strong ones! I’m really impressed with how well the shellac colour has held up too. I’ve since had them taken off purely because my nails were growing too fast to be maintainable, and just have shellac now, but I’m loving that too. I had Satin Pyjamas by CND, a beautiful dusky pink that makes me feel very grown up, and then switched to Field Fox, also by CND which I love too.
Fashion-wise, I wanted to give a shout out to the Zara scarf I picked up in Copenhagen. It’s the softest, largest, cosiest scarf I own, perfect for protecting myself from the nippy April breeze. I accidentally left this in Wagamama at the beginning of the month and nearly had a heart attack when I realised my mistake! Luckily they kept hold of it for me and I was able to get it back (the fact it smelt like ramen after wasn’t all bad either!). I’ve also pretty much been wearing my Coach Leather jacket all month since receiving it for my birthday. It fits so perfectly, goes with everything, and is simple, which is difficult to find in a jacket these days. I specifically wanted one without too much hardware, and this fits the bill perfectly.
Also for my birthday at the end of March, my parents picked me up a new strap for my Apple Watch. It’s a blue woven number that is easy to wear with my daily uniform of jeans and a tee, and I think looks pretty cute. It’s also pretty comfy, which can’t be said for all Apple’s straps!
I’ve been watching The Tudors on Netflix this month, satisfying my inner history geek. If you’re into a bit of English history, or Natalie Dormer, I’d recommend giving this a watch – I have a total girl crush on her after this!
I’ve bought lots of furniture and home bits for the new flat this month, which I can’t wait to show you, but I especially wanted to give a little mention to this little bowl I picked up in H&M home. It’s so cute, I love the handpainted look + polka dot pattern! I have no idea where this will go yet, but I’m excited to find a home for it!
What have you been loving this month?
