What’s In My Bag

I feel like the What’s In My Bag post is a blogger cliche, but for all the right reasons. I don’t know about you, but I’m inherently nosy, and when I’m with my friends I love to have a little root around their handbags, and the What’s In My Bag post feels like just that. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts, so I figured it was about time I dumped out the contents of my bag for you to have a nose.

I’m currently switching between two handbags, day to day I’m using my Kate Spade day bag, a beautiful quilted taupe number with gold hardware. It’s the perfect size for my everyday junk, it fits my DSLR and my laptop comfortably without weighing me down, and bloody hell it’s pretty. If I’m not using that, I’m using my Rebecca Minkoff Hudson Moto Mini in black, which is the perfect size for my essentials!

Kate Spade Bag

The Kate Spade bag might just be my dream everyday bag, it’s got lots of different sections and pockets, which, when you carry as much junk as I do is very handy for keeping things organised. I keep any beauty bits in the central zip pocket, my phone in the external back pocket, and my purse in the inside zip pocket, and it means I can grab things quickly and easy.

You’ll notice that there are a lot of Kate Spade items in this post, it’s a brand I always end up coming back to. I love the look but I really think the quality of the products is worth the splurge. That being said, I never buy anything from them full price, the things you see here were either TKMaxx finds, purchased in the Bicester Village outlet store, or picked up with a 20% off code in store.

What's in my Bag

Starting with essentials, I have my phone, an iPhone 6, in a geometric Kate Spade case, and a portable charger because I am an Instagram ADDICT, who can’t be stopped. I have my house keys + office keys, tucked up in a Kate Spade key wallet. I always thought these were a bit silly, but having my keys wrapped up protects my phone, iPad, camera, anything else in my bag from getting scratched, so it’s worth every penny. My car key doesn’t fit in the wallet, so it’s on a Kate Spade rose gold leather key ring, mostly because it’s big and helps prevent me from losing it. Purse

I’ve streamlined my purse recently, I just got a bit fed up of carrying a big bulky one that always had my coins falling out of. Con picked me up this gorgeous metallic Whistles Coin Purse for Christmas, and it’s the perfect size for carrying a bit of cash, one of those trolley coins, and a few spare memory cards. I then keep just my essential cards (debit, ID, Space NK card…) in this Oliver Bonas Card wallet, a very kind gift from the OB team at the press day last week. I love how soft this is, and it comfortably fits 5 or 6 essential cards.

Other essentials, my Canon G7X which I use for vlogging or snapping photos when my iPhone camera plays up. I carry my Canon 70d too if I’m going somewhere I know I’ll want to snap a lot of photos, so I also have a few spare batteries and things like that. I also have my headphones, all neatly wrapped up in a hairband because I gave up with my fiddly cord tacos. I don’t carry my big over-ear Beats with me day to day since they weigh my bag down, so I just take a little in ear pair for on the tube!

Other essentials include my sunglasses – a Fossil find whilst I was in the States, and my driving glasses that er, help me see other cars. I recently got new glasses with a new prescription + was horrified at how little I could see previously!

I have a cold at the moment so my bag is also home to some Beechams Cold + Flu tablets (these ones are my favourite – non-drowsy + super effective) and some peach flavour Soothers. I’ve also got a couple of sachets of Emergen-C, which is a handbag staple for me anyway, but a necessity at the moment.

There are some practical bits floating around too, like Compeed Blister Plasters,  a little Goofy tin with some ibuprofen in, and a little bundle of hair grips + bands.

On the beauty bit front, things are simple but as usual, starting to creep up on the lip product count. Right now we’re at three, which is kind of my maximum, any more than that and things start to get out of control. At the moment I’ve got the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Honey, for when things get a little dry, the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Blushing Mauve + the L’Oreal La Lacque Lip Colour in Choco-Lacque for a little colour. The only other makeup bit is the Maybelline Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer, just in case of touch ups!

I always have a Bath and Bodyworks Hand Sanitizer in my bag, this one is the scent Ninjabread Man which smells as delicious as you’d imagine. I’ve got a Caudalie Merlot hand cream to fight pesky winter dry skin, and a rollerball of my favourite fragrance, Giorgio Armani Si, for touchups on the go!

I’d love to know what you can’t leave home without! I’ve put together a widget with all the things I’ve mentioned above, or something similar if I couldn’t find the exact one, so have a look at that below!
