It’s the most wonderful time of the year, for my wardrobe anyway. Autumn Winter dressing is my comfort zone, give me jeans, a snuggly knit and boots any day. It’s not always easy dressing for the transitional period though, you know those days when it’s freezing in the morning, boiling at midday, and you’re not sure if it’s summer or winter? Yeah those. Normally I really struggle, but this year there are a few outfits I’ve been loving for those exact days.
SHIRT DRESS, CONVERSE, DENIM JACKET.
I never thought I’d be into shirt dresses, but I’m having a real moment with them right now. I wear them a lot in the colder months, paired with black tights, heeled boots and a snuggly knitted cardigan, they’re great for chilly days in the office. Right now though, they make the perfect day to day outfit when dressed down with my trusty white converse and a denim jacket. The shirt dress itself is light enough that if the sun really pops through I won’t overheat (the sleeves roll up too which is a bonus), and the jacket provides enough protection for the odd breeze.
THE PRINTED DRESS + BOOTS
I’ve had SO many comments on this dress since sharing a picture on Instagram! It was a recent Zara find I bought specifically for this dinner in Bruges. I was drawn to it though because I know I’ll wear it a ton. It’s perfect for nights like this, worn with heeled boots and bare legs, but I know I’ll be pairing it with over the knee boots and my leather jacket as it gets colder. An autumnal print like this is perfect for getting the autumn feel into your outfit, without overheating you.
PATTERNED TROUSERS + A LIGHTWEIGHT KNIT
I love knitwear but it’s definitely not been cold enough for a lot of my favourite pieces. Instead I’ve been pulling out thinner jumpers in a more autumnal colour palette, and pairing them with patterned trousers for a bit more of an interesting look. These houndstooth trousers were a Zara find last autumn and I’ve loved them, they’re a really versatile piece in my closet. I’d wear this same outfit with trainers in the day, and when it gets colder, I’ll swap the knit for something chunkier.

SHORTS, JUMPER + JACKET
I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to some of my shorts, so I’ve been pairing them with jumpers on warmer days. I love these polka dot shorts, I’ve worn them so much this summer, and the monochrome really lends itself to a pop of orange or yellow on top. I’m sure the shorts will have to go away soon, but in the meantime I’m layering up on top to make them work.
What are you wearing a lot as the seasons change?
