November always creeps up on me, and I think it’s easy to see this month as the dark precursor to winter, cold and sunless, with little going for it. I’m quite a fan of November though, I like the way the cold seems new and exciting (it’s not quite as exciting by December), and the promise of Christmas on the horizon is always a draw. It’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling fed up with the cold days and reduced daylight hours though, so my November To Do List is all about embracing the best bits of November!
Update your home for Winter. As the nights are drawing in, I’ve realised there are a few bits and pieces I want to pick up for around the house. Some new lamps for the hallway and dining room so we don’t always have to have the bright spotlights on (I’m all about soft mood lighting for A/W), some thick curtains for the lounge to warm the room up a little, and a few new cushions for the bed. And of course, candles everywhere! Make your home a cosy haven you’re excited to spend winter in!
Make lists for Christmas! Gifts to buy, gifts you’d like to receive, DIYs to try, recipes to bake, decorations to pick up, and Christmas-y activities to do. Get excited for the Christmas season!
Try out a festive coffee drink. We might be bidding farewell to PSLs but we get to say hello to gingerbread and toffee nut lattes, hot spiced apple drinks and spicy hot chocolates. I tried Starbucks’s new Christmas Brulee latte this week and MAN was it good.
Embrace a berry lip. I’m always hesitant when it comes to bold lips, but the time seems right to crack out my old fave, Charlotte Tilbury’s Love Liberty, a deep berry matte lip with just enough pink for it to be flattering on my skint one. Peruse the beauty counters to find your ultimate berry lip.
Try a new apple recipe. Apples are at their best this time of year, so why not cook with them! I’m a sucker for an apple pie, but this season I want to try apple and cinnamon flapjacks, the perfect afternoon snack.
Celebrate bonfire night! This one often slips by unmarked on my calendar, but this year I’m going to make a crockpot of chilli, and serve on hot buttery potatoes, eaten out on the balcony wrapped in blankets, watching the fireworks. I’d love to experiment with some sparkler photos too!
Make a gratitude list in time for Thanksgiving. It might not be a holiday here in the UK, but there’s nothing wrong with making time to be thankful!
Shop for the perfect Christmas party dress. Anyone have any recommendations? Ours is early this year and I still can’t find the perfect dress!
Spend cosy nights in making the most of Netflix! The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, new episodes of How To Get Away With Murder, Dynasty and Crazy Ex Girlfriend, and Hallmark start releasing their Christmas movies this month! I’m excited for the dark evenings, it’s the perfect excuse to stay snuggled on the sofa in my new pyjamas.
