The Three Summer Face Masks You Need

In the summer I’m all about light light light skincare. I don’t want thick and heavy creams, claggy face masks or thick serums, I want light layers and really, as few products as possible. However, all that doesn’t mean that my skin doesn’t still occasionally crave a good face mask, so I’ve amassed quite the collection of summer face masks to keep my skin happy in the hot weather.

I try to stick to calming, cooling, brightening and clarifying masks in the summer. Yes, I still want hydration, but I like a multitasking product that can offer more than just that (and equally, a hydrating mask that isn’t greasy or oily).

So my do it all summer face mask line up looks a little like this…

The Brightener.

Bright, glowy skin is what summer is of course, all about. This Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask has been part of my skincare lineup for years, because it’s just really good. I apply this once a week or so, a nice thick layer on the skin, leave it for 5-10 minutes and wash off with a warm cloth, and the results are instant. The fruit acid base gets exfoliates, removing dead skin cells, leaving skin looking good as new. It smells great and whilst at £36 it’s not the cheapest, it lasts ages.

The Soother.

A fairly recent addition to my skincare stash, the Kiehl’s Calendula and Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque has become a firm favourite already. Skin feeling tight, dry or stripped? Have you caught the sun, or is your skin looking irritated? This stuff not only is instantly cooling and soothing, with long term effects your skin will look happier and healthier. You can apply this as a quick fix, a thin layer on for ten minutes and then washed off, or I like to leave it on overnight to really soak in. Again, it’s pricey, but I have yet to use up a Kiehl’s face mask, they just last forever.

The All Rounder.

I’ve spoken about my love for the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Mask a fair bit on this blog so I’ll cut to the chase. This is my favourite overnight skin-fix for the summer months. I apply a thick layer before bed and rinse it off in the morning, to find my skin looks brighter, softer, healthier and smoother. I bloody love it.

So there you have it, my three favourite summer face masks. What changes do you make to your skincare routine for summer?
