Did I mention I’ve got a tan? I’ve only told basically everyone haha, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been as tanned in my life as I am right now, it only took six weeks of gallivanting hey! Well, the tan has meant a bit of a switch up in my makeup routine, aside from the fact I needed a whole new foundation shade, I feel like tanned skin lends itself to a different, glowier makeup routine. I’m spilling the contents of my makeup bag today to show you my makeup favourites for tanned skin.
Foundation was the first thing I picked up out in Aus, within a week or two I was too tanned for the foundations I took out. I picked up two but my favourite has been the Sephora Collection Glow Perfection Foundation. I find a light hand is best with this, I use just a little product and blend it into the skin using a rounded top dense buffing brush. It’s got good coverage for a lightweight foundation, and it got a lovely glowy, natural finish. I also ended up picking up the Sephora Collection High Coverage Concealer, which is a good all rounder, high coverage but lightweight enough that it doesn’t crease under the eyes.
I’ve been really feeling that bronzed, glowy cheek look, and I think cheek products are where things really differ from my usual makeup look. I picked up this Tarte Hamptons Weekender Palette in Sephora, as a replacement for the MAC blush and bronze duo I normally travel with that bit the dust. Anyway, it was a great investment, it’s slimline and compact, and contains a beautiful matte bronzer that’s not too warm toned, so you don’t run the risk of looking muddy (and can skip the contour), a pretty matte pink blush, and a gorgeous gold hued highlight. As always with Tarte products, they blend beautifully on the skin and wear well throughout the day.
The other blush I’ve been reaching for a lot is also from Tarte, remember when everyone was obsessed with their Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy? Usually it pulls a bit coral for my skin tone, but with a tan this is just gorgeous, it gives the perfect sunkissed glow to the skin and is so summery looking. I also think it goes well with the golden toned highlighters I’ve been reaching for, like the Sephora Collection Face Shimmering Powder, which is a little more subtle than the Tarte highlight, but equally gorgeous.
I’m all about the shimmery glow right now, and that extends to eyeshadow. I’ve been loving buffing one shimmery eyeshadow shade all over the lid, then finishing with a flick of liquid liner and lashings of mascara. I’m totally obsessed with the Colourpop Golden State Of Mind Palette, which is a haven of intensely pigmented, super shimmery shades. These warm tones work well with a tan, and they require minimal effort to look good.
The two lipsticks I’ve been reaching for to finish the look off are almost identical in shade, but worlds apart in terms of formula. For everyday, I simply swipe a little of the Glossier Generation G Lipstick in Cake over the lips, for a subtle nude lip that just pulls things together. It’s comfortable on the lips and couldn’t be easier to apply. When I’m after a little more, I’ve been obsessed with the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Lipstick in S1ngle, a super pigmented matte lipstick that gives a lot of colour to the lips, but doesn’t leave them feeling dry.
And that’s it, a simple, glowy makeup routine for tanned skin!
