Autumnal Makeup Picks

It’s that time of year again where my every day makeup drawers get a reshuffle to make way for my autumnal makeup picks! I love my little seasonal reshuffles, it’s like shopping your own stash and rediscovering old loves! This year I’ve picked a few stellar products out of the lineup that I’m excited to wear over the new season!

THE BASE: I always tend to reach for a matte-er base product this time of year, but I’m not quite ready for full coverage foundations. The NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint is a nice transitional product, it’s got a matte finish that’s not SO matte it looks flat, and it’s nice and lightweight, so your skin still looks like well, skin, with this on. I apply this with a dampened Beauty Blender for a natural finish that’s a little more matte than my usual tinted moisturisers.

THE POWDER: The weather might be cooler, but that doesn’t stop my makeup trying to melt off my face when I’m on the tube, walking into town or getting embarrassed (so, like all the time). I like to set things in place with a powder this time of year to take the edge off any shine and keep things in place. For days when I’m after a bit more coverage, I’ve been reaching for the MAC Studio Fix Powder, which really perfects the skin and keeps things in place. For lighter makeup days I’ve been using a dusting of the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light, just to set things in place.

THE CONTOUR: Come Autumn I tend to put down the bronzer, and instead stick with a little contour under the cheekbones to make things look a little slimmer. My current favourite is the Marc Jacobs Instamarc Contour Palette, the contour shade in this palette buffs out beautifully to give natural definition to the cheeks, and I’ll take any left on my brush around the edges of my face for a little more colour.

THE BLUSH: I love taupey, natural coloured blushes this time of year, and tend to reach for the same two over and over again. The Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed is a classic choice, a hint of taupey nude that looks like a natural flush on the cheeks. For a little more pink, I reach for Benefit’s Rockateur blush, the perfect dusky pink with just a hint of glowy sheen to it.

THE EYES: There’s only one palette on my radar for autumn right now, and it’s the NYX Ulitmate Palette in Warm Neutrals. Filled with gorgeous bronzey, reddy browns, it just screams autumn. The shadows are pigmented, they blend well, and the whole palette is a steal at £16. One to consider if you want the Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay but it’s out of your price range.

THE LIPS: It’s berry lip season baby! I’ve already cracked out my OG berry lip favourite, the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Love Liberty, a soft and creamy deep berry lipstick that’s matte so stays in place well throughout the day. I’m also excited to crack out an unexpected favourite from last year, the L’Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss in Smoke Me Up, a gorgeous high pigment lip gloss in a deep pink shade. It’s not sticky and super long wearing, and I think the shade is super flattering!

Okay, now I’m excited for Autumn!
