July To Do List

Summer is well and truly here (although in England it seems as though we may have already used up our quota of good weather for the year!), and writing my July To Do List was a little tricky. It’s going to be a busy month for us, Connor has his Masters graduation next week so we’ll be in London for a while, we’ve got a flurry of birthdays and long standing plans in, as well as trying to organise a holiday for August, and getting ahead ready of that. Because it’s so busy, I wanted to come up with wonderful, happy, summery things to do that didn’t need to take a whole day. Things I can fit in on an evening after work, or a spare hour on a Saturday morning!

Perfect the at home iced coffee. We have a Nespresso machine, and every possible gadget and extra to make delicious lattes and mochas and hot chocolates at home, but I have yet to perfect the at home iced coffee. Last month I cracked iced tea so this is my next challenge! I want to sip iced dirty chai on my balcony in the sunshine!

Book a holiday. We’ve got tentative plans for a big trip at the beginning of August, but this month we need to pull the trigger and book! So exciting!

Buy fresh apricots and peaches. I love fresh summer produce, and can’t wait to get my hands on some peaches and apricots! I can’t wait to make apricot ice cream, peach iced tea and maybe a cobbler too!

Catch up on magazine reading. I have a little stack of unread magazines on my desk at home, waiting for some love! A lazy afternoon in the sunshine would be the perfect chance to get through some of them!

Make summery cocktails. Making Watermelon Coolers has me in the mood for cocktail making! I’m thinking something with apricots and gin perhaps! Watch this space.

Walk everyday. Our new flat backs on to the most beautiful public gardens, is a five minute walk from town, and ten from the beach so there are no excuses for not getting out and wondering! The good weather and lighter evenings help too, even if it’s only for 20 minutes a day, I want to get outside and moving!

Eat an ice cream on the beach. I’ve eaten ice creams and been to the beach, but this year the two have yet to intertwine! There’s something so beautifully summery about sitting on the sand with a cone of strawberry sorbet, I can’t wait to get on it!
