Everyday Summer Makeup

OH HEY THERE GIANT PICTURE OF MY FACE. Weren’t expecting that on your Friday morning were you? It’s been a while since I’ve shown you some products on my face, so last week I snapped my everyday summer makeup routine, and show you the products I use to make the magic happen (ie, hide the fact I’m sick as a dog).

I’m a big advocate for primer, and right now I’m using up a sample size of the Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer, which just adds a little glow to my cheeks and makes things look a little brighter. I then use my Beauty Blender to apply my Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Gel, which I swear is the perfect summer base. It’s lightweight, glowy, looks incredibly natural on the skin but just evens things out. It’s not super high coverage, but for the most part I don’t need it, so I just use concealer on any areas I’d like a little more coverage. At the moment I’m using my Estee Lauder Brush On Glow BB Highlighter under the eyes to cover + brighten, I love how this blends into the skin and looks natural – do you see a theme here?

I’ve been loving cream cheek products again recently, so I’ve had a rotation of them going on for the most part. I’ve been loving the L’Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion de Soleil Bronzer to warm up my complexion, I take it on a buffing brush in the hollows of my cheeks and then round the perimeter of my face. It’s easy to blend and just warms things up a little in a natural/non-orangey looking way. I’ve then been reaching for my Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium a lot, to add a touch of colour to my cheeks. It’s such a pretty natural peachy shade, it just gives a little something something. I apply this with a Beauty Blender, and it’s really easy to build up for a strong look, or leave light for just a touch of colour.

I then have been setting my face with the Kat Von D Lock It Setting Powder – not because I particularly need powder, but rather to help things stay in place even if things get sweaty. I like this powder because it’s incredibly light on the skin, barely detectable, it just keeps your makeup in place longer. I just use a small amount of this and dust it over the whole face, it really helps keep cream cheek products in place. Once that’s done I go in with a highlighter, right now I’m obsessed with the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstonewhich is the perfect shade for my pasty complexion.

Brows are a simple affair, I tend to skip brow gel on hot days and just fill in sparse areas with the Anastasia Brow Wiz. I keep my eye makeup to the bare bones too, a little of the NARS Alahambra  Eyeshadow Duo, I tend to switch between the two shades depending on what lip colour I’m wearing. I then go in with lashings of the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara which is just my absolute favourite.

What I opt for on the lips tends to be the product I mix up the most. In this photo I’m wearing my Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Adriennea pretty peachy nude that I love the formula of – it’s really smooth and soft on the lips. I’ve been wearing my Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Ex Girlfriend, and MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in All Fired Up a lot too – none of which are pictured in this post because they were all lost in indeterminate handbags when I went to take photos of the products!

It sounds like a lot of product but the result is quite a natural, glowy makeup look!
