My Spring Skincare Routine

It’s been a long time since I’ve talked skincare on the blog, so with a bit of a shakeup going on for Spring I thought I’d share the products I’m using + loving right now. I always switch my products around at the start of a new season, in the colder months I’m reaching for rich, hydrating, protecting products, whilst when things warm up, I’m looking for lighter, brightening, refreshing products to add into my routine. So, without any further ado, my Spring skincare routine!

In the mornings, I like to keep my routine as simple and to as few products as humanly possible. I’m not an early bird, I like my sleep, so any time I can save on my skin is time better spent snoozing! I start with a quick face wash, and that’s the first step after I get out of bed in the morning to help wake me up. I use a pump of my Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser which is infused with Rose + Geranium oils which stop it from drying my skin out, and Bergamot, which helps wake my skin up! I use this with my Foreo Luna Mini, which just helps massage it into my skin + gives that extra clean feeling. I then go in with a couple of spritzes of my Kiehl’s Cactus Flower + Tibetan Ginseng Hydrating Mist which I let absorb whilst I brush my teeth. This is a bit of a princess product really, I’m not sure it has any massive skin benefits, but again it adds to this whole waking the skin up + refreshing vibe I’m going for. I’ll also use my ring finger to massage a drop of The Ordinary Caffeine Solution under my eyes. This stuff does wonders for dark circles + puffiness!

Then it’s simply a case of applying some moisturiser! My favourite for the day time all year round is the Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Day Cream which is richly hydrating, but not too heavy, and has sunk in to my skin by the time I’ve gotten dressed.

If it’s a weekend and I have a little more time on my hands, after cleansing I’ll apply a thin layer of the Kiehl’s Tumeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque. I love this for giving my skin a little instant pep, it’s a ten minute quick fix that warms, tightens + lifts the skin, making things look a little happier and more radiant than they naturally are. I leave this on whilst I potter about my room for ten minutes, and then rinse it off with a hot warm flannel, before following up with the Kiehl’s Mist.

You’d best believe that as soon as I get in the door, the first thing I want to do is take my makeup (and then, usually, my bra) straight off! I start by dousing a big cotton pad in the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water, to get as much of my makeup off as possible. I prefer to use Bioderma for this step, but I’m trying to use this bottle up before we move! It’s gentle enough to use for face makeup as well as tough mascara, and I generally find that one saturated cotton pad will get the majority of product off. I then go back in with the Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser on my Foreo Luna Mini to really give the skin a deep cleanse, getting rid of any residual makeup or general grime from the day.

Face clean, again I’ll liberally spritz my skin with the Kiehl’s Cactus Flower + Tibetan Ginseng Hydrating Mist, making sure to not only get my face but also my neck too. Once that’s dry, I’ll apply a few drops of The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum, just using my fingertips to gently massage it into the skin. I find this really helps boost the hydration from whatever moisturiser I use after, and my skin just drinks this stuff up.

Usually I’ll then just follow up with my moisturiser of choice, the Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Day Cream for Spring or something a little heavier in the colder months. A couple of nights a week though, I’ll switch out my moisturiser for a generous layer of the Kiehl’s Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque, which just helps keep my skin calm, hydrated + looking healthy. I leave this on as an overnight masque and by morning my skin has drunk the lot up!

So there you have it! You can see there are a few brands I’m pretty loyal to, I tend to stick with what’s tried and tested and I know my skin loves!
