I’ve been in a bit of a funk the last couple of days, so I figured that perhaps putting together a Lovely Things post might help cheer me up! If you’re new to these parts (hi, hello, nice to meet you!), my Lovely Things posts are a round up of happy little things that have made me smile over the last week, almost like a gratitude list. Not only do I get to share happy moments and great discoveries with you guys, they’re also the posts I look back on the most, like a digital scrapbook!
- A clean car! This week I drove my car for the first time since January, which was pretty scary, but I treated it to a deep clean at a local hand car wash. I’m pretty sure my car is now as clean as it was when I bought it, and it’s been nice to try and get used to driving again in a spotless car!
- A little laptop time in Starbucks. It’s been a really long time since I did any work, never mind set up in a coffee shop to tackle my to do list, but on Monday I spent a couple of hours getting on top of my inbox + replying to comments in Starbucks. Working in coffee shops was a daily occurrence while I was living in London, so it was nice to do something that made me feel like myself again! I ordered a White Mocha and sat in the window with my Macbook watching the rain!
- Progress on the flat! This week feels like there’s been a lot of leaps forward with the renovations on our new place! The kitchen is in, we picked out bathroom tiles, the plumbers arrived and the electricians finished! The flat is now ready for the decorators to start, the tilers to come in + for us to organise the final steps, like floor fitters and ordering furniture! I’m so excited to show you guys the finished space!
- Smoothies with my sister! My sister and I had some errands to run on Tuesday, so we also snuck in a trip to my favourite spot for smoothies. I had a strawberry, peach + papaya smoothie, and it re-energised me for the day!
- Babysitting my favourite small person. I babysat for a friend’s little boy for a couple of hours this week and it was so much fun. He’s coming up for two years old + is growing and changing so much, that I feel like I need to grab as many little moments as possible before he grows up and is too cool to hang out with me. Sob.
- First Iced Coffee of the year! On Thursday I was headed down to our flat to check on the renovation progress with my dad, and we stopped en route to grab an iced coffee. We sat in the sunshine and sipped them watching the world go by, and it made me so excited for summer!
- Fresh strawberries from the farm shop. We headed to our local organic farm shop to pick up some groceries for the weekend, and I nabbed a tub of fresh strawberries, they were so sweet and juicy, I ate the lot on the way home!
- Ikea! I made a little trip to Ikea on Friday with my oldest friend, and got dreamy eyed looking at organisation solutions. We snacked on meatballs and I got even more excited for my flat to be done!
- My sister turned 21! I’m not sure if this IS a happy thing, because it makes me feel about 90, but my baby sister turned 21 this week, and we celebrated with a family meal out on her actual birthday, and then a tea party at the weekend! I made mini pancake skewers that were not only adorable, they also vanished pretty quick they were so tasty!
- An impromptu visit from Kelly! I got a surprise visit from my wonderful friend Kelly yesterday, who was in the area by chance at the last minute. I took her to my favourite coffee shop where we caught up over coffee, chai + rhubarb friands! It was so good to see her, and made me realise I need to get a date in the diary ASAP to see my other London babes! It felt so good to be back in the company of someone else who has to photograph their food before they eat it!
- The arrival of the Spring sunshine! Could we have had better weather this weekend?! I spent Sunday afternoon luxuriating in the sunshine in a country pub garden, sipping passionfruit cider and hanging out with Con. It was blissful.
So there we have it! Some happy things to remind me it’s not all hospital appointments and early nights!
What have been the lovely things in your week?
