Feeling Lost On Instagram

A few months back, around October time, I really felt like I’d found my groove with Instagram. I was posting twice a day, loving my photos and really getting good feedback from my followers. I didn’t necessarily have a strict ‘theme’ per se, but I was posting warm autumnal images that felt natural and fitting with the time of year. Taking photos for Instagram didn’t feel like an effort, because my life was pretty warm and autumnal.

I kept that up through November and then December rolled around and I headed across the pond to the States. All of a sudden I was back in 30 degree heat, and not an autumn leaf in sight. I had a little wobble, but then I found my way with quite heavily contrasted images that were quite colourful, lots of blues, but used darkness too to tie everything together. That was easy too, because I was taking so many photos each day whilst I travelled, and they all seemed to mesh together well.

Fast forward to now and well, the weather is dark and stormy, I’m spending most of my time at work, and there’s not much going on that’s photo worthy. I feel like I’ve kinda lost my footing with Instagram, and I’m not really sure where to go from here. I miss posting beautiful autumn leaves and glorious Californian sunsets, and grey, rainy England doesn’t seem quite as Instagram worthy.

I feel like I need to head out on a photo taking mission, reinspire myself and see what’s out there, but this grey weather isn’t helping much! Even when I do find something insta-worthy, my photos are coming out dark and grainy and beyond editing help.

Am I alone in this? Does anyone else have the Winter Instagram blues?
