Today we’re talking sick day beauty, and I should preface this by saying I’m not talking about the days when you’re hit with a flu that keeps you in bed all day, but rather the days when you feel like poop but still have to get on with life. Sometimes life isn’t on board with letting you languish in bed all day, and you still have to put on your face, and tackle your to do list.
I’ve rounded up some of my favourite products for those kind of days, some to make you feel perkier, and some to make you look perkier too.
I always start with a hot, steamy shower, to feel a little more awake! One of my favourite shower products right now is Lush’s Christingle Body Conditioner, an in shower body moisturiser that packs a hydrating punch. This is particularly nice when you don’t feel well, since it has a strong minty scent, and it makes your skin tingle, perfect when you need a little help waking up.
I’d also recommend having a strong coffee to hand whilst you’re getting ready, or at least a lemon and ginger tea!
I like to pop on a Sephora Green Tea Eye Mask once I’m out of the shower, and leave it on for as long as possible. I’ll pop this on then dry my hair, get dressed, make some breakfast, only taking them off just before I do my makeup.
I’ll then go in with a good slather of moisturiser, and a generous application of the First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy. This stuff is great when you’re feeling less than perfect, it helps cancel out dark circles, and the metal applicator is cooling and soothing on tired eyes.
Before I go in with foundation, I always reach for my Too Faced Hangover X Primer. This stuff is a fantastic boost to the skin, it’s hydrating and gives the skin a plumped effect, all whilst creating a perfect canvas for makeup.
I’d always recommend going for tried and tested products when you feel less than hot, your favourites that you know work. I always tend to reach for a brightening blush to finish things off, it’s the ultimate complexion perker-upper. I love the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose, a pretty pink with golden shimmer running through, it instantly makes you look awake & glowy!
When all else fails, coffee, coffee, coffee!
