Essie Winter 2016

If you’ve saw my Essie Nail Polish Collection post, you’ll know that I’m a big Essie fan – they’re my favourite polishes and I don’t tend to purchase anything else anymore. I love the thick opaque formula, the wide angle brush & the vast colour selection – I never feel the need to purchase anything else because they have all my bases covered. Whilst I feel like I have everything I need from the core collection, there’s always a few from the seasonal collections I pick up! The Essie Winter 2016 collection dropped into stores at the beginning of the month, and I ended up picking up three shades.

First, I picked up Ready To Boa, described by Essie as a ‘glistening bronzed mahogany’. That’s a pretty accurate description, it’s a dark brown with red undertones and veins of bronze shimmer running through. It’s pretty dark, and I thought it would make a nice alternative to the typical blacks and navys I tend to reach for around this time of year. I love this for a polished & sophisticated look, I think it’ll be great for Christmas parties! I’ve also popped this on my toes this week and I love how it looks! It’s a super unique shade and if you only pick up one polish from this collection, I’d recommend this one!

A week later I ‘fell’ into Boots and ended up purchasing Satin Sister and Getting Groovy. Satin Sister is described as an ‘ebony peacock blue’, but on the nails I’d describe it more as erring on the green side of things. It’s a gorgeous deep teal that I picked up as it’ll match my Christmas party dress well! As for Getting Groovy, well who can resist a good metallic palladium gold. I love how smooth this applies, unlike some shimmery-metallic shades, it’s not streaky & applies completely opaque in one coat. I’ve been using this as an accent nail colour, but it’d be equally as gorgeous as a full mani!

All in all, I’m really pleased with this collection, it seems like a nice deviation from the usual Christmas shades!
