A Little Lipstick Haul

It’s honestly been so long since I’ve bought makeup, that I think a little splurge was well overdue. Really, there hasn’t been much this year I’ve thought I had to have.
So really, I didn’t feel too bad for the purchases I made at the beginning of the month! I popped into MAC to repurchase a concealer and stumbled across the new Liptensity Stand. I’d been meaning to check them out so it kinda worked out, and after having a little play with them, I fell head over heels for the consistency of them.

I ended up picking up two shades, Smoked Almond & Marsala. Smoked Almond is completely different to anything else I own, it’s a brown nude, which I normally steer clear of, but this has just enough peach in it to lift it. I was so drawn to it as a nude for autumn, it feels very seasonal appropriate. Marsala is similarly quite seasonal, a deep berry shade that actually pulls more pink on me than I’d expected – not that that’s a bad thing.

As far as formula goes, I’d say these are like a more amped up version of MAC’s Cremesheen formula. It’s intensely pigmented, but still quite creamy. I’d describe the finish as demi matte, it’s not matte but it’s not glossy either. It’s a sorta full-coverage-in-one-swipe kinda jobbie, which I like, but it does need a little care on application because it’s so pigmented. They’re really long wearing for a non-matte lip colour, and they won’t budge for a coffee or sandwich!

Bold lips covered, I finally caved and picked up one of the new Lancome Juicy Shakers. I’d never been that drawn to any of the colours previously, but I spotted the shade Piece Of Cake on display as I walked past the counter and was sucked in. It’s a very Jaye shade, a nudey mauvey pink that’s perfect for everyday. The formula is beautiful, it’s formulated with a ton of oils so it’s super moisturising and smooth on the lips, and whilst the glossy finish isn’t super long wearing, the colour does leave a bit of a stain to the lips which hangs around for quite a while. I love how petite the packaging is, and the cute cocktail shaker-esque shape, and surprisingly, I love the sponge tip applicator, it’s really soft and comfortable on the lips, and it’s an easy shape to maneuver.
I feel like these three kind of have my autumn bases covered!
