I’ve been having a big makeup sort out whilst moving stuff into our new place – a move is such a good excuse for a declutter, and whilst sorting through my products, I realised I have a lot of drugstore beauty favourites that I don’t hear much chatter about! So today we’re shining the spotlight on the underrated, budget friendly beauty buys I can’t get enough of!
Let’s start with the foundation that I reach for on a near daily basis. The L’Oreal Infallible Foundation is my go to for bad skin days because I know it’ll just work. Whether things are feeling a little dry, looking a little red, or I’ve got a breakout I’d rather not have on show, I love this foundation! It’s a medium coverage, but buildable if you need it, a great colour match for my skin, and a good mix of being quite a comfortable gel formula, and a slightly matte finish. If you haven’t tried this, I highly recommend it!
I picked up the Maybelline Face Cover Concealer whilst I was in the States in December, since for some reason it hasn’t been released here! Even so, I’ve barely heard anyone talk about it, which is a shame since it’s a great concealer. It packs a good punch of coverage, without being as drying or matte as the likes of the NARS Creamy Concealer. It’s got a really natural finish, it blends perfectly into any foundation hiding a multitude of sins!
Max Factor isn’t a brand I look at regularly, but I snagged the Creme Golden Bronzer on a sweep of Superdrug last month, and I’ve been seriously digging it ever since. It’s the perfect shade for my ghostly pale skin, not too dark or too orange toned. I use my Real Techniques Point XL Brush to dust this around my temples, under my cheekbones, and under my jawbone to just add a little colour, warmth and glow to my skin!
I’ve spoken about the Nyx Ultimate Palette in a few posts recently – but for good reason! If you’re into warm, reddy toned eyeshadows you need this! The powders are buttery soft and richly pigmented, and the shade range is just gorgeous. This is my favourite drugstore eyeshadow palette – I have no idea why more people aren’t loving this!
I think the Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Colours are pretty new, but I picked up the shade Desert Sands last month and I’ve been wearing it a ton since. It’s a really creamy gel formula that’s light + comfortable on the lips but still super pigmented. The shade Desert Sands is a pretty dreamy nude shade, and it’s perfect for handbag touch ups on the go.
There was a lot of chatter around the Fleur de Force x Eyelure collab when it first launch, but since then the Fleur Loves Lashes have become my go to for a little extra lash. I love that they’re three quarter length because I HATE having lashes right in the inner corner of my eye, and I find the thick, tapered style really flattering.
A product that’s generally not talked about much is lip scrub, but with lips as prone to dryness as mine, it’s a necessity! I know it’s pretty easy to make your own, but I always go back to Lush’s offerings, they’re just the perfect level of scrubby! Currently on the go I have the Sugar Plum Fairy Lip Scrub, which tastes like Wine Gums – that can only be a good thing, surely!
And lastly, a shout out to Soap and Glory’s Heel Genius. There’s very little I hate more than having dry feet, so I religiously slather my feet in this every night. It’s an old faithful, I’ve been using this for years and I just adore it, the scent, how effective it is, and how my feet feel post use!
