Self Care Rituals to Make Time For

Self care is always important, but when the world is feeling as confusing as it is now, and the weather as bleak, I think self care becomes almost vital to our existence. Or, at least, our existence as functioning, pleasant human beings. When life gets busy and hectic, self care is often the first thing we drop from our to do list, but in reality it becomes ever more important. Treat yourself to a little self care this weekend, and try out one of these ideas below.

  1. Buy the latest issue of your favourite magazine, sit down with a cup of tea and read it cover to cover.
  2. Give yourself a DIY at home manicure.
  3. Take yourself for a walk in the morning mist.
  4. Find a sunny spot in your home and just lie in the sunshine for a few minutes.
  5. Spend so long in the bath the water goes cold, the bubbles disappear and your fingers get wrinkly.
  6. Indulge in a little mindful colouring.
  7. Listen to a podcast (try the Slow Home Podcast or Why oh Why).
  8. Change your bedsheets + snuggle up in fresh pyjamas.
  9. Make yourself a proper afternoon tea, homemade cake + tea brewed in a pot.
  10. Buy yourself flowers.
  11. Make homemade fudge.
  12. Say no to plans you don’t want to make.
  13. Pamper yourself with a face mask, hair mask + full body moisturising sesh.
  14. Go to the cinema on your own, order a large popcorn + eat it all yourself!
  15. Roll out your mat and do a simple, centering yoga sequence.
  16. Make a gratitude list.
  17. Build a terrarium.
  18. Write a letter to a friend.
  19. Go for a swim.
  20. Have an early night.
