I’ve been visiting South Coast Roast and it’s sister, Cafe Boscanova, for quite some time. They became favourites when I returned home from London for the weekend and was craving a good coffee, or a little avocado toast (Bournemouth is only recently picking up on the whole avo-toast trend). Now that I’m a full time Bournemouth resident again (still feels weird) I’ve become something of a regular in South Coast Roast.
It’s a twenty minute walk from where we are house sitting, just the perfect walk to get my blood pumping in the morning before settling down with my laptop! One of the perks of my new Macbook is that it’s so blooming light and small, I can have it in my handbag and I barely notice. If I can I love to sit at the window bar and watch the world go by, but often I sit in the communal table in the middle, usually inhabited by other mobile laptoppers. And once I’m there I tend to get cosy for a couple of hours.
My usual routine involves me ordering a soy chai latte, then a coffee and an avocado toast with scrambled eggs, and then another chai and the Friand of the day. They make a bloody good chai latte in here, perfectly creamy, and they’ll give you the cinnamon to add yourself (I always add a ton). Their avocado toast is generously portioned, reasonably priced and sprinkled with chilli flakes, which is never a bad thing! The staff in here are always so nice too, which is a nice bonus since it’s only a small cafe, you’re in close quarters!
Bournemouth is short of hipster-y, independant coffee shops for digital nomads like myself, so I’m glad I found this gem!
Are you a chai latte fan?
