It’s been quite some time since I rounded up my current beauty favourites for you all, so today I am shaking out the contents of my makeup bag and picking out the highlights.
Starting with the makeup bag itself, isn’t it just a beauty?! I picked this up in the states, it’s part of the collaboration between Rifle Paper Co and Le Sportsac, and my word is it beautiful! It’s dinky and compact, perfect for just holding my day to day essentials, and it’s really bloody cute.
Starting with base bits, I repurchased the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream whilst I was in the States, and OH MY WHY DID I EVER LET MYSELF RUN OUT OF THIS STUFF. It gives really good coverage without looking like you’re wearing foundation, is incredibly light and comfortable on the skin + lasts all day without primer. A big thumbs up, this stuff might just be my ride or die base pick. I’ve got two concealers on the go at the moment, both from Maybelline. I’ve been using the Instant Age Rewind Concealer in the Brightener shade under my eyes, and the Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer for blemishes, areas of redness, or extra coverage under my eyes if the corrector isn’t quite enough. Both are super affordable + do a great job, I’m so pleased with them. I’ve been using my Beauty Blender to apply all of this having recently gotten a new one – my old one was getting a little gross. I love the way it bounces the product into the skin, making it blend seamlessly without losing any coverage. I just wish I’d remember to take it to the bathroom with me when I brush my teeth so I don’t sit down to do my makeup and then realise I need to go dampen it!
Cheekwise, I finally picked up the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed whilst I was in the States, now that I can’t just steal Daphne’s all the time. It’s the perfect goes-with-everything blush shade, it really sculpts the face and looks so pretty. It’s especially good for pairing with a red lip, to give a little colour to the cheeks. For highlight, I haven’t put down the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone since I got it. I may love this even more than Champagne Pop (I know, sacrilege), it’s the perfect highlight for my skintone, it adds the most gorgeous iridescent glow to the skin, I’m obsessed. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know I’m not much of a contour kinda gal, but I picked up this little Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Duo in the aisle of doom at Sephora, and I’ve fallen head over heels for the Sculpting powder. I don’t know why I’ve never tried this before but I won’t be putting it down any time soon!
Eye-wise I’ve been keeping things simple, I’ve been using the NARS Eyeshadow in Ondine all over the lid, blended out in the crease with a fluffy brush. It’s one of those great shades that looks really beautiful on the lid alone, a plummy shade with a hint of grey to it, it deepens in the crease and the subtle shimmer makes your eyes really pop. I’ve been finishing it off with lashings of the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara, which I picked up as a 1000 point perk in Sephora. If you like thick, voluminous lashes you’ll love this, it’s up there with the YSL Shocking Volume Mascara as one of my favourites!
I haven’t included any lip products because I’m being very fickle with lip products right now! I am loving the new L’Oreal Le Lacque Lip Colours, I picked up a few shades of those whilst I was away, as well as my trusty Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Ex Girlfriend and the Bite Beauty Multistick in Papaya. Perhaps I’ll do a lipstick round up soon?
