Woaaah pictures of my face. Sorry about that, but ya’know, sometimes it’s helpful to actually see the makeup on, not just a picture of it. I’ll try not to do this to ya too often. So recently I’ve been craving a smokey eye. I know that sounds weird, but over the last few months I’ve been playing it pretty simple on the eye makeup front, a single cream shadow, or using my Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics palette, and all of a sudden I’ve just been craving a dark smokey eye. I thought I’d ease myself in, no need to go full on Taylor Momsen right off the bat, and I’ve pulled one of my MAC Quads out of retirement. When my eyes are open, it doesn’t look too OTT, just a hint of smokey-ness, but when I close them you can see there’s a lil’ something, something going on. I actually really like this look, it felt really light on the skin, but it looks pretty polished!I used the L’Oreal True Match Foundation, just one pump buffed in all over my skin, and this really does just give a perfected look to the skin. It’s a really good shade match, and it just looks like skin. I used the MAC Mineralize Concealer to conceal my under-eyes and highlight the area, I basically just applied it in a giant upside-down triangle from inner corner to outer corner, and really buffed it in to add light to my skin. These two products mesh together so nicely, and really make your skin just look like…skin.Moving on to eyes, I primed the lot with the Urban Decay Primer Potion, from brow to lash line just to make sure it all stayed put, then went in with MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow (bottom right of the quad), all over the lid on a big fluffy brush, and really spent a long time making sure the edges were blended seamlessly. I then took a little of Blackberry (bottom left of the quad) on a pointed pencil brush and really concentrated this in the outer corner and crease, before going to town with a blending brush again. The last step was just taking the Soap and Glory Smoulder and Kohl Pencil in Black along my upper waterline, and then along my upper lashline, and the outer part of my lower lashline. I blended that all out with a flat definer brush, to give it more of a ‘lived in’ look! I finished it off with lashings of mascara, I really love the My Little Beauty Mascara, it really packs a punch! It’s great for length and volume, and it works on the lower lashes too.I kept my brows and cheeks super simple, I just took a little of the Blink Beauty Brow Definer in any sparse areas of my brows, and combed them through, and then for cheeks, a little of my beloved NARS Deep Throat Blush on my cheeks. I freaking love this blush, it looks so natural but just gives the perfect amount of colour to the cheeks, with a hint of shimmer. On my lips I’m wearing the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Happy Nude Year, I kind of have a love hate relationship with this, I love how it looks, the longevity is fantastic, but it’s really drying and you can see in the close up picture, it’s highlighting the dryness of my lips! Need to whack out the Lush Lip Scrub I think! What do you think of this look?
