I always thought that brow gels were a good option for lazy brow days, but this little experiment into the options out there left me feeling a little…disappointed, if I’m honest.I’ll start off with the most budget friendly option, the Rimmel Brow This Way gel. I picked this up in the airport this Summer, after realising I forgot to pack any brow products for my week in the sun. It was on a £1.99 introductory offer, but it retails for £3.99 now, a bargain either way. I got the shade dark brown, because the shade lighter was far too light. As you can see, the wand for this one is much much bigger than the others pictured, which makes it pretty impossible to apply the product evenly, it ends up all over your forehead and browbone too. Unfortunately for this product, this isn’t the end of it’s problems. The colour is really quite dark and actually quite red toned, meaning that once you get the product on your brows, it can look a little unnatural.  The biggest problem however, is the fact that far too much product comes out on the brush, and not evenly either. That and the oversized brush just results in one giant brow mess. The only way this is usable, is to scrape the product off the brush on the tube, and add a little bit to the front of my brows, and then use a spoolie to distribute the product. It’s a lot of faff for a mediocre end result. The Maybelline Brow Drama was the first brow gel to hit the drugstores here and it piqued my interest with it’s low price point and claims of easy, bold brows. This one has a rounded brush which stops you from ending up with product from the wand all over your face. good start. I had to get a lighter shade in this because the brown shades were just too dark, so I now have the shade dark blonde. It’s a bit light for me but it gives a hint of colour and holds my brows in place all day. No brow drama here, but it’s a decent gel for holding brows in place. And finally Benefit Gimme Brow, the priciest of the bunch. I was on the fence about forking out for this, so my lovely friend Daphne let me borrow hers for a week to take it on a test drive, so to speak. If I’m honest, I’m glad I didn’t fork out the £17.50 for it, because this doesn’t fit the bill for me either. Whilst the brush is the smallest of the bunch, making it the easiest to apply, it picks up way too much product, and the tapered brush means it picks up more at the wider part of the wand, so the product distribution is massively uneven. The colour shade is a good match for me, it’s got ashy undertones which makes it more natural looking. I can make this work if I apply it and then brush it through with a spoolie, but the effect it gives me isn’t really worth the hassle. This works really well for Daphne, because she’s got quite even brows to start with, but mine have random sparse patches which make it a little more challenging. Do I think it’s worth the price tag? No.A little disappointing that none of these really worked out for me! If I had to pick a favourite it would definitely be the Maybelline offering, but to be honest, none of them really blew me away. A bit of a negative nancy post today, but I feel like it’s helpful for you guys to know all the important details!Have you guys had any luck with brow gels?
