I Used Only Typology Skincare For Three Months (and here’s what happened)

I’ll be honest, I can’t remember the last time I was truly excited for a skincare launch. It seems like it’s been a while since anything particularly innovative hit the shelves, and it’s certainly been a while since a whole new brand has appeared to shake things up. However, when Typology announced they’d be bringing their line to the UK, well now you’ve got my attention.

Created by the founder of MADE.com, Typology has been making waves in France for their simple products with no fuss ingredients, sustainable ethos, dreamy packaging + affordability.

So when Typology asked if I’d be interested in trying some of their products ahead of their UK launch date, I was all ears. I had a chat with their team about my skincare likes and needs, and they sent over a parcel of pieces to try. In fact, they sent a whole ROUTINE, so I decided to devote a whole three months to using only Typology skincare, and see what happened.

The parcel arrived complete with my ‘skincare prescription’, advising how best to use all the products, so for the month I stuck to this like a bible. I didn’t use any other skincare, with two exceptions. The parcel didn’t include an eye cream, so I used my usual one, and the line doesn’t include any masks as of yet, so I still found myself reaching for a mask occasionally, out of routine more than necessity.

Morning Routine

Solid Hydrating Cleansing Bar: Confession time, I hate washing my face in the morning. I know, I know, its bad, but I really am not a morning person and I’m going to do the bare minimum (usually, a swipe of Bioderma on a cotton pad). So I really have to love a product to commit to using it every morning. First impressions of this were good, I’ve never used a solid cleansing bar before and expected it to be drying, kinda like soap I guess. It’s got a great fresh grapefruit scent and lathers up quickly. I still don’t love the faff of washing my face in the morning, but this is refreshing, cleansing without being stripping, and definitely wakes my skin up. But yeah, I’m lazy, what can I say.

Orange Blossom Hydrolate: I have to admit, I didn’t like this at first. I found the scent very overwhelming and wasn’t convinced it was doing much. But as someone who struggles with dehydrated skin, this extra morning step made so much difference. I think the mistake I made was thinking of this as a toner, when really it’s a lightweight layer of hydration for the skin. It’s really refreshing on the skin and my skin looks brighter and happier after using this!

Vitamin C 11% Serum: I’ve tried a few vitamin c serums over the years and whilst I always like the effect it has on my skin, I’ve struggled to find one with a texture I got on with. I instantly loved this one though, it’s smooth and viscose enough to make it easy to apply, and it absorbs into the skin beautifully. This is a definite repurchase for me!

Facial Moisturiser with 9 Ingredients: It doesn’t get much simpler than this, but this product is an absolute winner. In fact, this might be my favourite product from the Typology lineup, thick and intensely moisturising but sinks in quickly and makes a perfect base for makeup. Packed with coconut oil and hyaluronic acid, my skin just adores this and drinks it up!

Evening Routine

7 Ingredient Makeup Removing Oil: I love a makeup oil, especially one I can get all up in my face and eyes, to take off every scrap of makeup on my face. This fits the bill perfectly, a no fuss makeup remover that gently lifts all makeup from my skin.

Tonique Exfoliant: I adore a chemical exfoliant, so I was super excited to try this more affordable offering from Typology. Like the other products there’s no frills here, but it’s perhaps more noticeable in this fragrance free glycolic formula. This does exactly what I’d expect and is up there as one of my favourites from the line. Fuss free, gentle exfoliation for the skin that keeps things looking clear.

Typology skincare

Hyaluronic Acid: As someone with perpetual dry skin, this is not my first tango with Hyaluronic Acid, but it is the first time I’ve stuck with it. I’ve often found them to be tacky and almost syrupy, but the Typology offering sunk into the skin quick and easy. My skin definitely drank it up and three months down the line is feeling a lot less dehydrated.

Macerated Carrot Oil: This one definitely elicited an ‘eh’ when I pulled it from the box, who knew carrot oil was a skincare thing! Whilst I have to admit to finding the scent of this a little odd, there’s no denying my skin ADORED it. It’s comparable in texture to something like rosehip oil, thick and nourishing but fairly quick to absorb. My skin has never felt so soft, and I’ve already repurchased it.

It’s safe to say that Typology is a win in my books. Simple, affordable products, that work. What more could you want?
