December Base Edit

I used to do a monthly face base edit on the regular, but it kinda fell by the wayside when I merged my blogs. But today I thought I’d bring it back, because I personally like to read these kinda posts, and you’re supposed to write what you like to read – right? So let’s talk about my December Base Edit!
This time of year I tend to opt for something a little fuller in coverage – to mask the vitamin D deficiency and in the vain hope that a little more makeup might help warm me up in this freezing weather.
I start out with a brightening primer, to add a little life and glow to my skin – start as you mean to go on right? I’ve been using the Givenchy Wake Up Skin Base on and off for a while now whenever I feel like my skin needs a little more glow. The blue tones really counteract any redness in my skin and add a good dose of glow to my skin.
My go to foundation right now is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation, which sits somewhere between high coverage and comfortable on the skin. They’ve got a great shade range, so this is a perfect colour match for me. It’s good coverage without being cakey or heavy on the skin, so it’s the perfect ‘my-skin-looks-like-this-naturally’ foundation.
For breakouts, nothing’s quite as good at the natural coverage thang as the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. It’s high coverage but creamy and blendable, so it never looks thick or cakey! For undereyes, I’m obsessed with the Kat Von D Lock It Cream Concealer, it’s a great mix of covering and brightening, and it doesn’t crease or cake.
And lastly, I’m all about using the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade for setting my undereye concealer, it’s brightening and glowy, and makes everything look just a little more polished!
What are your go to base products this time of year?
