Our New Bathroom + The Beauty Products In It

Our new flat comes with two bathrooms, a feature I love and has made all the difference when getting ready in the mornings! The en suite off our bedroom is a petite little room with very little storage, but we’ve made it work for us, so I wanted to show you how – as well as the products I keep in there!

As I said it’s a small room, so we decided that white wall tiles with white grout and white paint were the way to go, we wanted the room to look as bright, light and airy as possible! The tiles we picked are just basic subway tiles from Topps Tiles, I liked them because they have some shape to them, they aren’t entirely flat! We also had a big mirror made to help reflect light + give the illusion of space, and added an LED strip around the back of the mirror, which makes for great makeup lighting!

We made the decision during renovations to effectively make this room smaller by making the shower bigger. We’re both pretty tall, and Connor has quite broad shoulders, so a bigger shower was important to us, but this did mean we had to sacrifice the space you would normally have a shelving unit, or some kind of storage solution. Because of that, we decided to build a shelf into the wall, by bringing the wall out slightly below waist height. It’s a pretty simple + minimalist way of creating additional shelving in the room. We also built the wall out in the shower so we could have a built in box shelf for storing our in-shower products – I hate in shower storage units, I find they always go rusty, so this was a great way to avoid that.

The shelf in the shower is the perfect size for my everyday essentials (and Connor’s when he’s not stealing mine). There’s my shampoo + conditioner of choice, from the Tigi Catwalk Nourishing Oatmeal + Honey range, as well as my Silver Conditioner from Bleach London which I use once a week or so to keep brassy tones at bay. I’ve got a big bottle of Lush’s Prince Charming Body Wash, my favourite Lush scent ever! I also use this to shave my legs as I’m super allergic to shaving gel. I keep my Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser here, and the Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub in here too.

We have a small white shelving unit to the side of the toilet (glamourous, I know) which holds a few essentials. General bathroom things like spare toilet rolls and air freshener, as well as Connor’s deodorant and face wash, spare razor blades, toothbrush chargers, backup shower gels, things like that. Other than that, we’ve had to pair down what we keep in our bathroom as it’s all out on the sides, and I don’t like to have too much out! I’ve currently got two IKEA boxes on the shelf, one with haircare and one with skincare in. This is a temporary storage solution until I find somewhere else for these – small bathroom problems! If you have any tips for these I’m all ears!

By the sink I keep our toothbrushes + toothpaste, along with handsoap and my Foreo Luna Mini and face wash – I’m currently using the Lush Spring Cleanser and I like it, it’s lightweight and doesn’t leave a residue on the skin. I also have my Kiehl’s Tumeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Face Mask, which I use once a week or so to brighten up my skin. I’ve got a cleaned out Diptyque candle jar with cotton buds in, and my go to post-shower moisturiser, Soap and Glory Spritz Me Quick.

And that’s pretty much it! The toothbrush holder, soap dispenser and towels are all from Linea at House of Fraser, and the vase was a Homesense find! The faux eucalyptus is from IKEA, it’s about £1.50 a stem and a great way to add foliage to a bathroom I think!

What do you keep on hand in your bathroom?

    • It’s a little room with a tiny window so I was really worried about it looking dark! We originally were going to have grey grout in the tiles like we have in our kitchen, but I changed my mind at the last minute and I’m glad I did!

  • I LOVE what you’ve done with it, especially the little built in space for your shower products! xx
