A January DIY Challenge

We’re getting down and crafty in the Kitchen here today. There is a reason that you have never seen a DIY post on this blog before, and that’s because I am awful at DIY. It’s not my forte that’s for sure, but new year, new start and all that, I’ve got a plan.

One of my New Years Resolutions (check back New Years Day to see them!) is to take more photos of every day life, but also to print them, it’s all very well and good having photos online, but it’s not the same as having them in an album. So, enter January DIY Project…

I picked up this plain notebook in Paperchase for a fiver, I like the size of it and it’s got good quality pages. I plan to take a mixture of photos from my camera, printed from my printer at home, and also get some of my Instagram prints printed from Polargram, who I have used before and were amazing (check out my post on them here). I’ve bought some different patterned papers, and some letter stamps and I plan to display them all prettily, with the occasional little bit of writing about what I’ve been up to! I’m hoping that when the book is full, it will be a really pretty document of my life throughout the previous few months, and that it will encourage me to take more photos! Hopefully it will look good on the coffee table too!

I plan to update you all here too, I will post occasionally with pictures of the book’s progress, showing you the way I’m choosing to display things, and how I decorate it!

I haven’t decorated the outside of the book yet, since I’m not sure how I want to do it, so if you have any ideas let me know! The only thing I’ve done so far is use stamps to decorate the front inside cover, and the January ‘title’ page, because I want to do it as I go along, I’d like to say I’ll sit down once a week to update it, but it will depend on how often I can print photos!

How do you store your photos? Have you ever made a scrapbook? If you have any posts on anything similar, please leave a link in the comments so I can have a look!
